I had been wanting to try this place since 3 years ago and finally went this evening with the husband! (11-7-20) What we ordered: •Sangria - nice balance of alcohol and sweetness in a pitcher! If you plan on coming here to try other drinks too, you might want to hold off on ordering the pitcher unless you’re with a group of 4! •Calamari - a little too chewy to my liking. Not the best calamari I’ve had but it’s okay. •Ham/Manchego croquettes - you can choose either one or have both. We had both. Husband decided he liked the ham croquettes a lot and said he could’ve just ate more of it. •Garlic shrimp - it’s ALL ABOUT THE OIL/sauce in this dish!!! I’ve enjoyed eating my bread dipped in its sauce. The shrimp was okay. Also, I wish it came with more chilis but I think they were just there for garnish. It gave it some nice kick. But there were only 3 on top of the shrimp. Haha •Seafood Paella - I was actually looking forward to finding “Socarrat” at the bottom of the pan but didn’t find any. I also expected it would take 45 mins to get to my table but it got there fast! So I was amazed. I liked the paella but the husband was not impressed as he said he liked my paella much much better (also because mine has socarrat! Haha) •Chocolate cake - Eh! We didn’t finish this one. It was okay. I was hoping it would be moist and decadent but the pictures I’ve seen online got me fooled. The syrup that it came with didn’t really compliment the flavor of the cake. It was too acidic it was hard for me to finish the plate. I had to order a different dessert. Never say never. •Poached pear - this one was alright too. I expected it to be either a half or whole pear on plate with passionfruit syrup. But it was nothing like that. It was sliced up and served with a little scoop of vanilla ice cream. I asked for chocolate that it comes with to be served on side only instead of drizzled. As that didn’t sound appetizing. Although I tried drizzling a little bit of the chocolate on some of the pears I’m glad they served it on the side as I requested. I don’t think the chocolate compliments the flavors of passionfruit and pears. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend this dessert to anyone unless you’re just really curious to try. I’ve never tried their Catalan cream, but I would think that would be a safest option for dessert especially if you like crème brûlée!
-Hubby said he wouldn’t go back, but I would! I think it would be a fun place to have brunch with some...
Read moreI’ve been here dozens of times over the past few years; I don’t know if management recently changed, if they were short staffed, or if things are simply ran differently on Sundays, but my experience tonight left a lot to be desired. To start, we were never asked if we’d like to sit inside or on the patio. We ended up asking to switch to the patio and thankfully it was no problem. Once sat, I noticed that the typical traditional instrumental music that plays had been swapped with pop and rap - not inherently an issue, until some of the most vulgar songs I’ve ever heard started to play. I’m no prude and I enjoy bars and clubs, but that’s certainly not what I expect from a restaurant I once considered to be upscale. Upon being handed a menu, I realized it was a scratched up, two sided piece of card stock as opposed to the typical tome with several pages of options. Once again, I don’t know if this had to do with a management change or if it was simply a condensed menu due to inventory issues or it being a Sunday, but it was incredibly disappointing to no longer see some of our favorite dishes. Now let’s continue with the service: I got the impression that our waiter was either new, shy, high, or some combination of the three. I suggest hiring people who have worked in food service, have shadowed other servers, or are at least able to clearly and effectively communicate. At one point, two dishes we didn’t order were placed on our table by a random server who left so quickly we couldn’t say anything. Our assigned server came back and upon being told of the error proceeded to bring the dishes to the correct table…… unless things have changed, that’s a major health violation. The plates simply should have been left at our table or pitched. One of the dishes we ordered had an option between dijon and blue cheese; we asked for dijon but received blue cheese. When ordering our first round of dishes, we told the waiter we’d like the mixed paella to arrive after the first few plates, but after nearly an hour it still hadn’t come. At that point we were not in the mood to ask if it had been put in and wait even longer, so we decided ask for the check. The one saving grace of this meal was indeed the food so hats off to the chefs for always knocking it out of the park. Since moving to Dallas, this has been one of my absolute favorite restaurants and maybe it was just an off night, but it felt like a lot of what once made this hidden gem...
Read moreI came here a week ago (10/3/20) with my sister and I was sorely disappointed by the poor service we received and the mediocre food. I've lived in both Andalucía and Galicia and was so excited to get tapas in Dallas since we can't travel, but I certainly won't be returning and won't recommend it to others. No idea why this place has good ratings.
Service: There were a few other groups there when we arrived, but the restaurant certainly wasn't busy by any means and everyone else seemed to be served in a timely manner. The servers ignored us for over 20 minutes and we repeatedly witnessed other groups that had arrived after us be served before us, so that immediately put us off.
I've worked in the service industry myself and am a patient person, but it left a bad taste in my mouth to see us be ignored, while diners that arrived after us both ordered and received their food before we had even ordered (especially as we were the only black diners in the restaurant).
Food: Nothing tasted like how it was supposed to. Not a single dish from the tinto de verano, to the patatas bravas, to the pulpo a la gallega. Again, I've had each of these dishes countless times in Spain, so I know how they should taste. The pulpo a la gallega was completely drenched in oil for no reason. My sister's pulpo was undercooked and gave her food poisoning later that night.
The salsa brava was watery and flavorless. The "tinto de verano" tasted nothing like the real thing and just tasted like cheap diluted red wine. Between the poor service from the unfriendly servers and the bland, oily food, we really regretted coming here. The prices are way too high for the poor quality of food that you receive. A meal from Shake Shack would have been...
