Without a doubt, Wicked Butcher is one of the BEST meals this vegetarian has ever had and my steak loving husband absolutely agrees! It was equally parts a visual and gastronomic delight to enjoy the evening eating fine food in the Sinclair - an Art Deco era building in downtown Fort Worth that was built during the oil boom of the 1920’s. This stunning architectural wonder features magnificent geometric designs, indicative of the era, and was impeccably restored in 2013 after being purchased to be made into a Hotel. The moment we pulled up, the valet was arranging safe keeping of our vehicle and leading the way to Wicked Butcher which starts on the floor level for casual dining and drinks and continues downstairs for the fine dining section.

We were given a brief tour of the meat locker where we were able to see the dry aged meat hanging behind a glass locker before we were seated. Our sever, Brent, was next level with his food recommendations and the wonderful service he provided us throughout our meal. My husband was delighted to enjoy the double serving (a benefit of having a Vegetarian wife) of the complimentary chef’s offering: Foie Gras on a crostini with Blueberry compote. A few moments later, the manager delivered two glasses of complimentary Spanish Cava: a beautiful sparkling Wine from Spain. As we were enjoying the wine, we were surprised with a plate of fresh baked Popovers with herb butter. Literally the size of my forearm, they were flaky on the outside with a soft chewy center. The herb butter was so delicious that I was tempted to lick the ramekin it was served in! There are 9 different appetizers and sides suitable for Vegetarians on their menu - thoughtful considering it’s a steak house. With the omission of Bacon on the Wicked Wedge and the Veal gravy on the Robuchon Potatoes, there are 11 options in all - not including the dessert menu.

For a starter, we ordered the Salmon and Tuna Tartare with Ponzu sauce, Avocado, Cucumber, micro greens and deep fried Wonton chips. I enjoyed a couple bites of the Salmon with Avocado, but the Tuna portion was a bit fishy for my tastes. It made my husband both happy that I tried it and thrilled that he was able to finish the dish without my help. My husband ordered the 16oz boneless Ribeye which was dry aged and served to his specifications - medium. He said it was very well seasoned and buttery in texture. I ordered the Cauliflower Soup: roasted Cauliflower, Pine Nuts and browned Butter. It was hot and creamy and served with a Parmesan Tuile cracker that blew away any expectations I had. We ordered three sides: Corn Crème Brûlée, Robuchon Potatoes and Brussel Sprouts. The Corn custard with Crème Brûlée sugared top was my favorite portion of the meal! The Robochon Potatoes were creamy and nutty with fried Garlic slices, Parsley and a Veal Demi-glase. I was able to eat the sides of the potatoes as the Demi-glase was a served in a small pool in the center. If you’re not a fan of Veal, it can easily be omitted. The roasted Brussel Sprouts were equally amazing and were served in a chili orange glaze with cashew crumbles atop. After our meal was complete, the manager appeared again with a final complimentary drink: a beautiful red Port Wine.

Pros: Plan to arrive early or stay late to allow yourself enough time to look around the hotel. The ambiance and flickering candles made for a very romantic meal. The individual bathrooms were luxurious and included a mouthwash station. The observation deck is now open to restaurant diners, but only on Friday and Saturday. Confirm when you make reservations as that may be subject to change. Wicked Butcher has our highest recommendations and we plan to return soon!

Cons: Parking anywhere downtown, including lots that used to be free of charge during non-business hours, are now up to $40.00. The restaurant offers a much more affordable option with their valet service at $15.00, so bring cash...

The Wicked Butcher today felt like Friday the 13th … it was a nightmare. On this day I had the pleasure of dining with my mother and aunt who were visiting from out of town ,on a surprise to me and we decided to dine at this restaurant. They were staying at the AC Hotel across the street .

Let’s start from the door , upon arrival the valet had to politely ask repeatedly for a transient to stop smoking by the entrance. He was very professional and the gentleman eventually left the area. This is not a strike because all downtown areas have the atmosphere of homeless people wondering around. Got it .

The door is held open for my mother and aunt by valet and we enter this very beautiful hotel. The vintage vibe is excellent it’s definitely a scene for the Great Gatsby , it’s sexy . Period .

As we walk to the hostess stand , we’ll let’s just say you can almost dictate the service by the host stand and it’s surroundings. The stand was swarmed with workers who had to be greeted by me in order to be acknowledged… #Strike 1 . The hostess energy was a hot 4 on a scale of 10 , not sure what the discussion was about but obviously the energy was not welcoming at all , but since it’s family getting together after not seeing each other for a while , that was easy to get over .However there is still a strike on the board.

We were escorted to our table and more energy came out from the hostess she was polite and told us our server will be with us shortly .

The server arrived , let’s be clear the overall crowd was between happy hour and transition to dinner time so most had already been served and were enjoying each others company. So not crowded at all .

The server asked would we like the drink menu and brought the IPad over without asking or offering any wine suggestions or tell us about IF they had a chef’s special for the evening. #Boooooooooo she left after I ordered a cocktail , she brought the drink back. #delicious , shout out to the bartender I ordered the Connery cocktail mmmmmmmm good.

Ok why all this background? well I’ll tell you , when the “server” returned we ordered Lob Mac and cheese , Charcuterie board for the App , pork chops and a wedge salad , simple right ?

So the “manager “ brought the app to the table , so polite so I was very shocked that when the issue of service arrived the condescending tone and the nonchalant attitude he used to address the issue.

The server however had waited on about 3-4 tables …. Waiting #strike 2. The server Shiloh Perez , NO THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE OR ATTITUDE. Not attentive we were watered once no cute banter nothing to supplement the wait for the horrible pacing of flow of service .

Yea this review is long because when anyone wants to enjoy a night on the town with family or self they deserve phenomenal service , let’s be honest this is not Longhorn steak house this is an elevated steak house and the prices let you know the quality of food will match the quality of service and ambiance.

Strike 3 the manager on duty was rude , not understanding and pretty much could care less how we felt about not getting our food at an appropriate time. He stated we only ordered 20 mins prior to us confronting him about our food . Which is a LIE . He brought the app so he knows how long we were seated.

At this point none of us had an appetite to eat and we paid for the one drink and app .

Shiloh Perez and her service along with the manager and overall staff not including bartender and chef was HORRIBLE and if it wasn’t October 16th I would swear it was Friday the 13th . All this to say . You all ruined my family night with two special people in my life . One of which had been very sick and has recovered and took a drive out to see me . To Eat .Pray . Laugh . Too bad my memory at this restaurant is tarnished . Texas has countless steakhouses that have consistent service , quality of food and ambiance.

My mother and aunt are owed an apology...

I wanted to give my honest experience for my birthday dinner with my review, unfortunately it does not match the majority.

We went on May 25th, our reservation at 10:30pm for my birthday dinner and it was unfortunately it was not the best experience. In our reservation my boyfriend put that it was for a birthday but we had to remind the servers constantly since they were not really listening. We arrived 5 minutes late since we couldn't locate parking easily and had to park further away and the host and the older gentleman server said "is this them? " to which the host nodded her head mockingly while laughing while the server seemed frustrated and then she showed us to our table. On the way to our table, I tried to make it less uncomfortable by telling her it was our first time there and that it is for my birthday. After that she became more polite and professional and asked how old I was. We were sat at a table right by the kitchen which wasn't the most comfortable since the kitchen was very noisy and the separator that was behind me, was bumped into throughout the night but I ignored it since the lightning was amazing and the inside of the restaurant was beautiful and impeccable. But that's really the only thing good that night. We waited over an hour and 15 minutes for our food, appetizer included and sipped our wine that we ordered and then given free champagne which I really wished I was told that we would get so I didn't order my wine as I don't drink alot but both drinks were too much so I only drunk sipped my champagne and the other drink was wasted. Our server was more professional than nice and only came a handful of times to check on us and brought our food out to us right before they closed 12pm. Our steaks were both extremely burnt (mine the filet minon and my partner's was a more expensive cut that i can't remember the name) and overcooked and our Mac n cheese was good but only one spoon was provided and it was brought out (our appetizer) after we recieved our steaks. I asked for a steak sauce and was told they will get it for me since my steak was so dry and tough and the server never brought it and forgot all about it.

To make matters worse, we couldn't say our steaks was burnt since the kitchen closed and all the workers were waiting for us to finish eating so that can leave at the bar right beside us, staring at us impatiently and sighing as we tried to rush eat. One guy started playing some loud music as he waited for us to finish and another worker remind him not to right now since customers (us) were still there and he turned it off.

The server came coming to us frequently after our food was just brought out to see if we were done eating and we reminded her we would like a cake slice since it was for my birthday. They brought us a extremely frozen cake slice and at this point me and my boyfriend just tried to make the most of it and rushed eat my cake slice which we couldn't finish since it was frozen. Sigh.

It was a nightmare of a dinner. The only thing good here was the setting and the lighting, other then that I will probably never go back. It just sucked since this was our first time going to a fine dining restaurant and this place has so many positive reviews I thought it would be a safe bet. I do not recommend due to my experience.

Overly expensive for nothing and not worth it at all. The steaks were...

Update: 12/6 The team from Wicked Butcher reached out and extended another invitation to get a better experience. I am changing the review from 2 stars to 4 based on that alone. I will try and visit again soon and see how things go. I encourage anyone reading to use these reviews as a guide only. Make your own informed decision. Their really onto something and new. Listening to feedback will get them aligned with where they are trying to get. Ill update again after my next visit. I hope it goes to a complete delete and 5 🌟 🌟🌟🌟 🌟 I really wanted to like this place.. I really did. Met my father there for dinner with my partner. He was in from Tennessee. We sat at the bar and had an amazing whiskey sour. After 25 minutes was moved to a table in the bar. It was 815pm on a Sunday night. Not busy. Atmosphere is Swanky but the extremely weird techno music with non stop repetitive beat did not match the atmosphere in any way shape or form. We ordered our food and talked and caught up. Waitress was pleasant and no complaints. The place COULD be great if they would not try mimicking other local steakhouses and just be one of a kind like the awesome name Wicked Butcher. I ordered the New York Strip bone in and they ordered the filet. My steak was very juicey. And I ordered it medium but it came out rare closer to the bone. It also took an hour in an unbusy restaurant. I season the heck out of my food. But after two bites the seasoning was over powering. And the cut of meat was too fatty. You shouldn't have to remove chewed food from your mouth twice because it's too tough but I did 😔. For $64 I expect the steak to be better than I can do and it fell short. Listen guys. Things you should know about the Wicked Butcher.... * It's very expensive $$$$$ *Everything is alacart... Your steak does NOT include anything but the steak. You want Mash potatoes? It's $12 more dollars etc.. Etc.. *Sides say for the table - Will not feed but one. Portions on sides are small *Wait times is a management problem, not a cook time issue. A restaurant that is not busy should not have these type of wait times. It hurts the customers, hurts the servers income and gets reviews like this. *If the Wicked Butcher would listen to these reviews and make some adjustments? It could be one of the greatest steak houses in Fort worth. Let the ego of "we're exclusive" go and customers will frequent and not be a "one-and-done" guest. You can tell they are not listening by the lack of interaction with the reviewers. ***I really recommend at least a Salad or French bread and a house butter to come with any steak purchase. It's very low cost for the perceived value and gain you'll receive on your return. It's not that people can't spend alot. It's that they can't if they can't justify what they're getting. Stop being stingy... ***have better communication from servers when wait times are high. Or have the manager touch the table and explain why the wait will be worth it! ***I will update this review after another visit or I receive any interaction from the Wicked Butcher. It's new so it's definitely worth a second shot. But if things are the same? I'm afraid there's much better for much less offered in Fort Worth.

The steaks were extremely unedible.
