Me and my fiancé went and had the most disgusting experience there. We arrived with our 3 kids and were told at the counter that we could do rider swap. After we waited for 40 minutes me and my other kid exited the line and waited at the exit. When my fiancé went through with my daughter we told the lady scanning us in that we were doing rider swap and she said ok! So this is the second person who has ok our rider swap. but when my fiancé went to sat down he asked the guy where we should stand for the swap and the guy checking the coaster cart told him that “he doesn’t care what they told him they don’t do rider swap” so my fiance told me that and i started to try to figure out what we are doing wrong to fix the problem. We were not once told a solution besides we all had to get back in line. It made absolutely no sense. Now they are saying that they don’t do rider swap. Like what… there is no way this is the first time this has happened where both parents couldn’t go at the same time. That’s when we started questioning it and they started to ignore us. We were not once talked to with concern or even a bit of empathy how we were so badly miss informed by the rider swap “story”. Minutes went by and then we had to get their attention because they were so obviously ignoring us and that’s when Colby Allen approached us. He told us that he did not care what we were told that the only option we had was to stand back in line all over again. When we asked for the manager he stated he was the manager and he ripped his jacket down so we could see his name tag….. That’s was blank. btw. lol. But the jacket being ripped down was so aggressive that it scared my young children. He was so rude in front of my children. His demeanor was honestly so inappropriate. We were honestly so confused how such a unprofessional individual could be the manager. He would not listen to a word we were saying. We ending up walking down stairs and telling the lady at the front desk who then called Colby Allen down and he proceeded to smile at our frustration and continued not to listen. He stated he didn’t know what was going on and was acting like a completely different person downstairs. My other child was not able to ride and we left. The way every single person on the 2nd floor acted was absolutely ridiculous. very disrespectful. Not a single person cared about the fact all we wanted was our other children to ride when we all waited in line together. We were not in any way trying to break a rule all we’re was confused about why we couldn’t swap riders when we were told we could. I would never go back after the way we were treated after just trying to do what we were told to do. And i don’t want this to be a big factor but we were there on behalf of give kids the world and this is how we...
Read moreIf you ever visit Gatlinburg, you'll quickly notice the number of "clone" tourist traps selling you the same service under a different coat of paint. This mountain coaster is no exception, as there is one called Moonshine Mountain that's literally five minutes away from there. Only difference is, when I rode on both of them, I had a significantly more underwhelming experience at Ripley's. The staff- while not outright malicious- seemed very callous and unfriendly. Only a couple of them bothered to give at least one soft- and probably forced- smile. It was like they were so caught up in procedure and enforcing insignificant rules that they forgot to give a worthwhile experience. This also resulted in the line to the coaster being congested easily. As for the ride itself, it seemed smoother and quicker going up, but the turns were sharp and rough once we started speeding up. The camera system was also slow to load pictures on the kiosk and straight up skipped my photo altogether. If you want a coaster that's both welcoming and family-friendly, I'd definitely recommend Moonshine Mountain! Admission is cheaper, the line goes quicker, the staff are fun and friendly, and they even have a cute little gift shop at the end! Not only do you recieve a card at the end of the ride to redeem your photo (which also takes note of your top speed, which is really cool), but they even record a short video of you through a camera on the coaster! The gestures might be little, but they really add up, especially for a family vacation. Ripley's Mountain Coaster just seems like they're doing the bare minimum to make a quick buck. They even had posted advertisements for their own coaster as you're going up the third hill. Once again, very little details, but it just left a bad taste in my mouth. Would...
Read moreThe WORST customer service! Our first time was a night ride. The staff both at check in and operating the coaster were funny, friendly, and helpful with accommodating our child swap needs. Today we went back for a daylight ride. The staff upstairs operating the ride were AWFUL! While my husband and other 4 children waited on myself and 4yr old to get out of the bathroom the extra large loud mouth lady advised they put their phone into a locker. My husband said ok sorry the night prior they didn’t have us do that. She said we will refuse your ride if you do not(as he was already walking to the locker). They struggled getting it opened and she said (to my teenager) “are you guys riding or not?” My teenager responded with sorry yes just a second to which she told them she was waiting around on them! There was no one in line mind you! We were the only ones there. We then told her after I came out and noticed attitude as well that we didn’t appreciate her continuing to have attitude for no reason. She then called a supervisor which removed her from the ride and we continued to get on the ride. However he refused to give us her name and also was very rude. Neither seemed to want to be there and apparently are very miserable. It ruined our experience today! Luckily the first ride and staff were...
