Terrible company to work with. Our family had booked sleigh rides months in advanced for Christmas weekend and the night before the ride a massive snow storm rolled in and all roads were closed to Jackson the day of the ride. Our family tried 3 different routes and all were met with a Sheriff blocking all travelers until the storm lifted. We waited at the blockade until our appointment came and went. We tried contacting the company 4hrs before our ride to notify that all the roads were closed and there wasn't any physical way to make the hour drive into Jackson. After trying to call 8 times DURING their stated business hours, we gave up and sent an email. They responded to the email later that night saying 'no refunds no matter what'. Two days later we called again to work out the situation and explain that it wasn't our fault the roads were closed and we would gladly take a voucher for a later opportunity. The business said 11 parties were trying to cancel because of the storm and that we should have all purchased some sort of non-existent insurance for our ride. Between us and the 10 other parties this company stole almost $4,000 rendering...
Read moreAmazing experience! Get super up close to thousands of elk. Hearing the cows mew and softly bugle to each other was so cool. I only dinged off a star because I wish it was longer and that my guide knew more about the preserve than just the elk. Other than not being able to answer the harder questions our guide was great and a good horsewoman. I later learned there is a lot of controversy about feeding the elk here, partially because some of the habitat impacts I was trying to ask about. However the Refuge staff at the visitor center were very helpful and knowledgeable. Make sure to check out the exhibits there too. The price includes a bus ride from the visitor center to the horses. Make sure you wear very warm clothes - lots of layers. I wore my heated socks and was very happy I brought them. The wind over the grasslands...
Read morePositive: Guides were exceptionally knowledgeable and excellent efforts for conservation. For Improvement: 1) NO BLANKETS provided and even though we called, no one warned us. Then they offered to sell you a $50+ blanket at the ticket counter when they dropped the news that they no longer provide them due to COVID. We absolutely froze and it was miserable. To be clear, no one mentioned this to us when we called for reservations. 2) We did not see a single animal due to the unseasonably “warm” temperatures they’ve been having. Obviously the refuge cannot control this, but it seems strange that they’re not up front about this. No one stated this on the phone or...
