Delphinium Hair Salon — Attraction in Kansas City

Please beware!! I hope this review does not get lost in the good ones because it is so important!

I had an appointment in June of 2022 for a haircut that I had to reschedule last minute. There is a late reschedule fee of $55.00 (which is high but insignificant to the larger problem). I had a credit on my account in the form of a deposit that was applied to my late fee, making it $27 which I allowed to be charged to my card on file that day. A year later - on Saturday, May 6th, 2023 - I was charged a full $55.00 for a “missed appointment”. Of course, I’m super confused because I haven’t had an appointment since June. So, I called Delphinium to resolve this charge, but instead received a message stating that this charge was in fact not a mistake! They MEANT to charge me for a missed appointment - the appointment supposedly being the one from a year ago that I rescheduled, paid the fee for, and went to! At first, I wasn’t upset at all as I was sure it was a simple mistake and as an engineering student, I don’t have time to be upset over mistakes made by a small salon. However, as I’ve been trying to maintain contact to resolve this issue (providing proof of a double charge in receipts, leaving voicemails) I’ve been totally blown off! Even so far as being hung up on when I call… I am becoming increasingly upset the longer my money is being withheld from me because also as a student, I can’t afford to be out $55 for no reason!

I hope Delphinium is able to settle this issue with me, I am actually so sad that this is happening because I desperately need my money. I’m sure that I am not the first to have this happen and positive that I won’t be the last, please be careful who you give your billing...

I went to Delphinium on the recommendation of my sister-in-law, who is a client of the owner. The owner and I texted and she was very helpful, making a recommendation for a stylist based on my hair cut and what I was looking for. I had received a horrid cut and color job from another local salon, and I needed help. The owner referred me to stylist Megan. She put me in wonderfully capable hands.

I met Megan at my appointed time. The salon was very nice, clean and bright and very beautifully decorated. Megan was so friendly and spent several minutes with me talking about my hair in its present state and then chatting about what I wanted to have it become. She had outstanding suggestions. I put myself in her hands and was thrilled with the results. The awful coloring job I had received previously was replaced with a rich, shiny, medium brown color. The horribly uneven bob I had walked in with was gone, and was now a sleek, precision-cut bob that was exactly what I wanted. Bobs can be tough to cut and the perfectly smooth blunt versions even more so. Megan has them mastered. She is both an excellent colorist and stylist.

I was so thrilled with my result I almost floated out of the salon after paying a bill which was less than I thought it would be, even after adding a hefty gratuity I was happy to include. Megan gave me back my confidence and I’m not hiding my hair under a ball cap anymore. I have since washed and styled it and I’m able to create the salon look at home. I am sooooo glad I was referred by a friend to Delphinium Salon!!! The stylists are so knowledgeable and have experience like I have never seen before! Maisie does my extensions and people comment on how beautiful my hair has grown not knowing in the slightest that they are extensions! Best compliment! lol no one even suspects they are extensions, they are that incredible! Plus she does a consult for free to make sure it’s a good fit and helps you understand extensions for first timers like myself! I have also had blowouts and styling with my extensions from Ry! She’s also amazing! I can’t say enough about her too! Maisie and Ry are so kind and both amazing with their ability and knowledge on hair, coloring and extensions! Maisie specifically colors my hair as well and does phenomenal and goes above and beyond to make me feel comfortable too! she’s always offering to go down the street and get me a coffee or a treat from a local coffee shop on her!!
