This is hands down the worst hospital. They are right along with Truman and research, in regards to treatment of patients. As a current cancer patient you'd think you'd get treated better. (Because of all the money the hospital and oncologist makes prescribing chemo) even that doesn't matter. Why? Cause there's always someone else to fill your spot. I used to trust st lukes, I used to tell everyone it's the best hospital. But after having to battle cancer for the 2nd time, ( this time for over a year) it puts things/life in perspective. I'm not going to be treated like crap anymore. Great thing about our health, we can choose where to be treated. The final, and I mean final straw was when I was in the patient room waiting for dr knight (oncologist) an hour past my appointment time. I finally wanted to see what was taking so long, (because you are never told that dr knight is running late or why) as we were to discuss the results of my CT scan, to see if the cancer had spread even more. I see him walking down the hall, I ask are you coming to see me? He "smiles" and says in a few minutes, and continues to stroll by. Immediately, his nurses assistant comes right behind him to explain to me that he's on the way to discuss something with a patient in the WAITING room. I said the waiting room?! I'm in the patient room, and have been waiting for over an hour for MY appointment to begin. My time is just as valuable as the next patient. No one and I mean no one wants to sit for up to two hours (which I have before, another reason they suck) for an scheduled appt. When Knight, finally appeared the conversation literally lasted 2 mins. I'm giving him grace by giving him that much time. I waited for over an hr past my appointment time for him to tell me I need a pet scan so they can see the cancer better. In my experience, once they order a pet scan, next step chemo or at least that's what the doctors who get paid by big pharma recommend they do. I could go on. About how when I was in the infusion center waiting to get treatment and literally watched 25 people get shuffled in. Till it was just me in the waiting room. Finally an hour and a half past my appointment time I ask, when am I going to get my treatment? I was told as the girl behind the counter looks at my name on a paper says, oh they forgot about you. I'll let them know your here. ( I checked in on the first floor, as well) then a nurses assistant came out and told me we don't have any chairs for you. Even though I had an appointment. So yeah, they forget about you even when they are making hundreds of thousands of dollars, at that point they have gotten almost a million from my insurance company. All in all if you want to be forgotten while you're trying to save your life this is the hospital for you. If you want to set appointments to see an oncologist, please remember you will be seen on their time. And they will get upset and call you if your late to your appointment. Which funny story I checked in on the first floor like I'm supposed to right? Get the wrist band, go to the 5th floor and wait. Half an hr past my appointment time I get a call from the oncologist( knights) nurse asking if i was going to show up to my appointment. Seriously? I told her I'm literally in the waiting room, she asked if I checked in. I said I have a freaking wrist band on, of course I checked in. I could say everything else that has pushed me to seek another hospital. Ku. That's where I'm going next f st lukes. St lukes is terrible. It's disappointing I used to think so highly of it not anymore.
Edit: It took a few days for them to call back. The message I left was telling them the only reason I'm calling is because they responded to my bad review. And I just got all the paper copies of my medical records dating back 6yrs. And that im going to go through all of it. And I told them I found a much better doctor, at KU. Where you don't have to wait 1-2+hours past your appointment time. And they have better seats in the...
Ā Ā Ā Read more. I have left multiple reviews on this site and on yelp and on every other social media I can find about what happened to me at St Lukeās. All they can tell me is to please call the patient advocate . I had over a two hour conversation after my event happened. I might as well have sat in the back yard and told my story to a dandelion. They did not want to assume any responsibility. They denied scrubbing my records electronically and didnāt do one thing to help me with my problem !while I am here I will give you the review for Midwest cardiothoracic group and St. Lukeās stroke care center. I had open heart aortic valve replacement in 2014 the surgery was a success, but they totally ignored my plea to check my head I was having horrible seizures I couldnāt pick up anything with my right hand slurred speech blacking out. My wife, a nurse kept going out to the desk to check with the nurses they looked at my telemetry and said my heart was fine she kept telling them it was neurological and they just kept saying itās postanesthesia that itās perfectly normal. We told no less than nine nurses and two doctors including Dr. PAK and Dr Borkon that I was having these seizure like events several times a day they contributed it to Postanesthesia. Ended up three days after theyāre released me from Saint Lukes, I ended up in my good hospital in North Kansas City, passed out in the elevator they carded me too they ER did an immediate CAT scan discovered three strokes one in my left front one of my right front and one of my brain stem that couldāve killed me. We return to St. Lukeās to talk to the patient advocate to see what we can do. She sent us a CD copy of 486 pages of medical records that had a accumulated on me in five days. Not one of them had one word of us telling any of the nurses or any of the doctors about my seizure problems and neurological problems. They colluded to cover up any of the incriminating evidence or word in the reports because I do believe that there is no way that nine good nurses wouldāve left that very important item of information out of any report. I believe that management and upper management in the hospital scrubbed the records and sent us the redacted copy which was very benign and left them in the clear. They are criminal but I canāt prove it and less I had the testimony of the nurses which Iām sure their jobs depend on going along with upper management. I would never go to that hospital again it is supposed To be the top stroke diagnosis and treatment facility in the Midwest. It is not. Do your homework before you go to St. Lukeās on the plaza I am still suffering from the effects of the strokes and under a neurologist care𤬠11 years later still waiting on a call from the patient advocacy unit. So when they answer your complaint with, Iām very sorry you need to call the patient advocacy person that is a bunch of BS. They have very talented attorneys and law firms to try to keep me quiet, and I will Spread what happened to me at St. Lukeās until I draw my last breath, sincerely, Tim Tunstillš¤ I now have proof that they did scrub and delete quite a bit of my official charting from the nurses!!! totally illegal and criminal and I have...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTHIS is what I went through at Saint Luke's today:
Never made it out of Emergency to the room!!!!
My room was waiting and the nurse on the floor called me twice after I'd arrived asking me where I was but Emergency refused to let me go anywhere until I saw their nurse and then their doctor and allowed me to let them put an IV into me even though after 4 hours they'd run no test! The nurse said she'd call Emergency to let them know that they were waiting for me.
30 minutes later I told the intake girl that I was a direct admit and that a nurse had called telling me my room was ready and she LOOKED AT ME and said, "If that had happened then I'd know about it! You didn't get a call! There's a process. You have to wait to see our doctor to be admitted on the floor! Have a seat and wait."
Then, no THEN she looked at her cell phone and crushed some more Candy Crush!!!!!
I walked out! I hailed an Uber and walked out! While waiting for the Uber, I got a call from the Emergency Room asking that I return so I did.
Now every Saint Luke's Security Guard within a 100 mile radius is in the Emergency Room looking at me! Really?
Security puts me in a wheel chair and pushes me up to Miss Candy Crush who continues to tell me that I've got to go through Emergency procedures, there is no direct admit!
A nurse rolls me around to a quiet room. I ask her how long it will take. She says 2 hours!!! I tell her that I have a room already and she's got 45 minutes!
15 minutes later a doctor comes in. I'm explaining to her that I got 2 calls from nurses waiting for me. This doctor says, "I have to examine you and put an IV in you before we can send you to your room.
Now, I'm like, just call me in the morning and give me my room number!
The nurse cuts in with a snooty remark and I ask her why she has security with her? She says she feels threatened by me.
REALLY? I've seen you for 5 minutes and you feel threatened?
The doctor says she's going to make some calls. The doctor ret urns in 2 minutes and says, "Yes, they have a bed for you. They've been waiting for you." The nurse says, "I've been looking for a heart for another patient."
THAT'S when I lost it!!
Gross negligence, incompetence, excuses!!!!
My LIFE is at RISK right now because of Saint Luke's money grubbing, double billing tactics!!
I should NOT have had to stoop to this level of anger just to be diagnosed with a critical condition AND I should not have to go through this just to...
