We were totally catfished by the Toasted Coconut and beyond disappointment with Last Key Realty. The pictures are not up to date and the reviews on this property are not recent. When we first arrived to the property 4:30pm we noticed a sulfur smell coming from one of the bathrooms we called the property manager and they brought in a plumber. We left with our 2 year old as the gas smell was so bad. They didn’t have the repair complete till 7:30. When we got back to the house the smell was masked by an overload of what smelled like axe body spray. We proceeded with bathtime and getting ready for bed and that is when we noticed the hour of us walking around all of our feet were black. The shower floor upstairs was disgusting to the point you had to wear sandals to shower. The other bathroom had gaping hole of missing grout, hair and visible mold around the tub. My husband bathed our two yr old and there was pubic hair in the towels, stains on the towels, tub was not clean. After feeling dirtier than we did before bathtime we got in to bed. The stains odors in the pillows. We were beyond disappointed but none the less said we’d stick it out. In the middle of the night my son had a hard time breathing we couldn’t figure out what was going on. When we woke in the morning we noticed there was mold through out the property. Under the wood flooring near backdoor and kitchen, on air vents, stains on ceilings, baseboards where the trim was coming off of the wall. The couch had so many stains on it we had to put a blanket on it to sit. Also the sulfur gas smell was back! At 8 am the morning after check in I sent a message to our host letting them know we could not stay there. We didn’t get a reply till after 10 am that some one was going to come walk the property. By that time we had left. We packed up a whole fridge full of food our things and our 2 year old. We had rented a golf cart and had our vehicle. Parking was awful there but the neighbor let us use their drive to load. This was not what we had wanted to do on vacation especially with a little one. We had requested the $ back from the nights we didn’t stay at the property. We paid around $1,500 a night… and wasn’t near what $1,500 a night should get you. We ended up checking in to a hotel suite unloaded our things and groceries. 24 hours had passed and we didn’t hear anything from the property management company. I called and asked to speak with the owner, it wasn’t till the next day we were connected with Rodney who seemed understanding and said he would get back to me. It wasn’t until 2 days after that he sent me a text saying nothing would...
Read moreWell, the name of this home could not be more true. We saw many beautiful butterflies every day as we sat out on the back patio.
This house was perfect for our month-long stay in Key West. The location, at the quiet end of Duval, could not have been better. We could walk to just about everything, and if we did not want to walk, a bike or golf cart got us where we wanted to go. If you want a photo of the Southernmost Point Buoy without the wait, this is the spot to be, as you can run out your front door once the line dies down and snap away! The home is a part of a small gated community of similar homes, yet this one sits back away from Whitehead, so being on the back patio is very peaceful (and full of butterflies). This specific home has a dedicated parking spot in which our rented golf cart was parked. The other homes in the gated area have a small parking lot.
The photos are a good representation of the home, give or take some wear and tear. The three bedrooms were cozy and large enough with great closet space. Each bedroom had its own TV. The beds were comfortable. The three bathrooms were clean and supplied with more towels than you will ever need. The first-floor bathroom is utilized as the powder room for the first floor as well as the bathroom for the bedroom with twin beds. The primary bedroom and the twin bed bedroom have their own balconies that face the courtyard. The kitchen is clean and very well-supplied, but we only used it to prep a few meals of fresh fish and veggies from the farmer’s market. The dining and living space fit our family on those rare nights that we were not out on the deck, rooftop, or out “playing” in Key West. The deck and pool were great (we had the pool warmed, which was very nice) and not as sunny as the photos show. The rooftop deck gives you a great view of the sunset each night.
Last Key Realty was amazing. Our concierge, Samantha, was the best. When we arrived, we had a yummy Key lime pie already in the fridge, and she brought over some special treats for our New Year’s Eve celebration. I had a few items from Amazon sent to Last Key, and Samantha delivered them with a smile (ok maybe it was not just a few things…). She was there any time we needed anything.
I would definitely stay at this home again, although it does need a little bit of deep cleaning, and I would certainly rent any home that Last Key Realty has available. If you want to rent a home in Key West, do it early! The good...
Read moreThe home at 101 Admirals Lane is the most perfect guest experience I've ever had. 2 fully equip kitchens make you want to run to Faustos' and cook dinner instead of dine out. The pool and lounge area are top knotch and the two guest cottages are great for multiple family privacy. If you need a crib, entertainment, someone to go grocery shopping for you, bikes delivered to the house, anything...Last Key will get it arranged. I was so surprised. The master guest cottage had a private lanai off the side and a vanity/closet setup that's anyone's dream. In house ammenities include a Keurig, Kitchen Aid stand mixer, all the pots, pans, cutlery, bottle openers, spices, and small appliances you could think of, paper, plastic, and glass plates for any occasion, a table with variable placemat choices, 5 bedrooms, 3 indoor seating areas (one in room), 4 bathrooms (each guest cottage and floor has their own), complete seclusion from the road, a portable speaker for the outdoor kitchen/pool area, a Weber grill, an industrial sized ice maker, a 6ft pool with water feature around the edge, parking for 4 cars, and more than I can list.
We had an engagment, honeymoon, and wedding to celebrate; and this place was perfect for these occasions. When the weather looked dicey, we realized the ambience of the location made for a great plan B with the large covered patio.
Shel was a great host, took care of anything we needed, and made our stay more delightful. Not only will we return to this company for visits, we will be calling this company when we decide to move to Key West.
Edit - we've used them again and received more great service even with hiccups. I tripped, later found out back home I broke my foot, but not without taking a tv with me. The insurance covered my incidental and Danny was very kind and helpful with the process. Dockside Daydreams was smaller than the last home but just as nice with plenty of kitchen supplies. The only thing I recommend is to take your own soap as I have long hair and there was enough in the entire house for me to get one washing. With the 3oz carry on rule, I figure this is good to know. We didn't get the routine cleaning service at this location, so might want to check if it's a by location thing for long term stays. Twice now we've had a key lime pie waiting in the fridge, this is super awesome.
Thanks again for another great stay in...
