Okay, after seeing several positive reviews on The Loft Bar & Grill in Leavenworth? I feel I can do a service to others by providing a little contrast and offer a slightly different experience. I raised my original one star review (to two stars), since the fellow behind the bar was courteous and possibly innocent during our pricing experience, who knows? Some people consider Leavenworth a tourist trap, but we didn't feel that way with the exception of our two hours today at The Loft.
The two of us walked over here from our nearby hotel late in the afternoon (June 18) in an effort to kill a couple of hours. One of us ordered an appetizer. I asked the bartender if we should order our draft Michelob Ultra 'by the glass', or by the ordinary plastic pitcher. The bartender encouraged us to go with the pitcher, since it would be a better value. So, we did that. We were sitting there long enough that we also shared a second pitcher during our second hour.
So, here's what we received in the itemized bill:
Appetizer: $14 (yes, that's the correct price) Pitcher #1 : $15 (okay, fair enough I guess?) Pitcher #2 : $28. (WTF???)
The total bill for the two pitchers and one appetizer was $61 and change. When I asked the bartender what was going on with the bill, he said it was also very confusing to him and they somehow price beers by the estimated glasses of beer in each pitcher, but he could not explain the huge discrepancy in the prices between two identical products (pitchers). When I asked him what the price of each ordinary glass of Michelob Ultra would have been had they not been part of the pitcher, he said $7.50. Wow, that's approximately double the $4 price of the same exact drinks we had yesterday downstairs a few feet away at the PO Saloon, but it still doesn't explain the inflated discrepancy in pitcher pricing at The Loft Bar & Grill. Had we not ordered a second pitcher, would the first one still have been $15? It certainly felt like a tourist ripoff but we paid up and will never come back.
For anything offered at the Loft Bar & Grill that doesn't explicitly have a defined price on the menu (such as a pitcher of beer), ask questions before you order or you may end up with a suspicious...
Read moreI am not sure how this place has 4 stars. Maybe it was great before covid hit but we had a terrible experience here. On Wednesday December 15 2021 we had just settled into our lodge, then took a 20 minute drive out to Leavenworth, it was late.. around 10:30 PM or so, Google says you close at 12am not 11pm. We walked in and sat down, was ignored by one girl cleaning up. Couldn't even spare us a glance or ask if we'd been served, we didn't say anything since it had only been 3 minutes since we got there. We decided too move tables to get a better view of the Christmas light and we were finally approached, my boyfriend didn't even get to sit down before being approached. The female bartender asked us what we want and he told her we don't have a menu so we don't know yet, she then said "We have qr codes, have you heard of them?" We didn't even see one on the first table so how would we know? (Comments like that are not professional at all and my boyfriend says she sounded very condescending while saying it)I didn't even see one on the next table we moved to, then as we sat down she grabbed one, brought it to us then we asked about food and she proceeds to say it's last call, so no food. She took her phone out to show us the time as if we are stupid and can't tell time or don't use phones. She left after we said we'd think about what drink we want, not wanting to be rude like she was, we just quietly left and nobody even cared that we were walking out. As someone that works customer service in retail, that was one of the worst experiences I ever had, my boyfriend can contest to how I feel, he is an assistant mngr for an office max. I don't know if covid has just made it impossible to find good staff members or what but that was far from a good memory for us. Would not recommend this place until they fix their staffs lazy and rude behavior. Sorry to be a "Karen" but we had a very long drive up there and just wanted some quick food, it was cold and snowing and we were beat. I just hope the building owner or bar manager reads this and investigates the...
Read moreOverall, would give this place 5 stars for having great service, great food, a great atmosphere, and for being one of the only places open late into the evening.
Went to Leavenworth for an extended weekend with friends while is was quite hot outside (~95F). We went here our first night as it was one of the only places we found in town open at 10:30pm. We all ordered the poutine, which admittedly isn't quite the same as Canadian poutine, but was a delicious take on the dish. We also tried the mini tacos, which were good, but wouldn't say they are anything too special. This place had the best giant pretzel and cheese we tried in town, by far in our collective opinion. We loved the atmosphere of the place and the service was on point.
We decided to go back again the next day to escape the heat and grab another bite. We were quickly met by glasses of ice water which were most welcome on such a hot day. They did also have a nice air conditioned environment once you make it off the stairs. We were so pleased with the place we went 4 times in total during our trip. We also tried the Aasgard Smash Burger, Tillamook Cheeseburger, and the Sourdough Burger Melt, all of which were insanely delicious and generous portion size. Their fries are also wonderfully fresh, crispy, and flavorful. This will always be one of our go-to spots from now on in...
