A great place to bring children for a day of adventure and play. My daughter has been going to the museum since she was 2 years old and loves every visit. There's lot of things to interact with and play pretend. It's not as big as the Omaha Children Museum, but never seems as chaotic or nerve wracking. It's also definitely oriented for younger kids than the Omaha counterpart and feels like a great place for kids ages 2-10.
LCM also hosts some fantastic events fun for both kids and kids at heart all through the year so there's always something to look forward to. I only have two critics...1) Many of the exhibits do seem run down and it's not hard to find something maybe not working as intended. It's understandable though considering the traffic volume they get and the number of little hands that play with the equipment, and my preschooler doesn't notice very much so as long as she's having fun it's okay by me. And 2) Parking is rather limited. But the good news here is they opened up the UNL parking lot just east of the museum so now families can park there instead of parking 3-4+ blocks away at a...
Read moreMy 22 month granddaughter and I stayed for 2 1/2 hours and had so much fun. I’m seventy and got a on street parking a block away. Didn’t bring my cane or my coat only a fresh diaper under my arm just in case she needed a change which I used to dab the perspiration from my brow as she raced from station to station.
It was so great to watch explore and enjoy the learning environment. All the things to climb onto/into, look at, touch, push, pull, turn on/off, build, take apart, watch, listen to, open/close and share with the other kids around her.
I thoroughly enjoyed our experience. It was also fun being around all the other kids with their parents, grandparents, brothers/sisters, friends and family. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. It was fun to see all the children have an amazing time playing by themselves and with each other.
Also there were plenty of places to sit and catch my breath and watch my grand baby at the same time, a wonderful experience...
Read moreWe love the children's museum and are super thankful it's part of our community. After getting a membership and spending more time there this winter I feel inclined to leave a review about the HEIGHT of all the exhibits in hopes that as renovations take place, maybe a change could be made? EVERYTHING IS SO TALL!
I have a two year old who is very interested in all the items/activities they have, but she's unable to reach so many, which is a shame because I also have a baby and can't be holding her up to everything. For example, she really wanted to make pizza yesterday and she literally couldn't reach any items, not even the table to set items on that I handed her. I'm always so disappointed when this happens because it's a place for small children after all - I'm not sure why things can't be slightly lower for more children to access. She's a peanut so I don't even think she'll be able to reach for a year...
