I walked into the Winnetka, CA store on Thursday June 8th at about 9:30pm. As I walked in towards the isles a man - who I soon found out was the manager, walked up to me with his finger pointed at me and said" Your bag- you leave in front!" I was confused and tired to make out what he said and asked him to repeat what he said as I didn't understand. He repeated himself noting that I have to leave my purse in front with him if I wanted to shop there. There were two ladies at the checkers stand waiting to pay for their groceries carrying large purses and I asked why they didn't have to leave their purses with him at front- to which he replied "It is our store policy." So apparently, if you are a person of color- it is Jons store policy not to let you shop with your purse or bag with your person because you will shop lift! I am a business owner down the street from Jons. I own a school that has been in operation for 18 years. I have gone into that store so many times within those years. I have never been so demeaned or blatantly profiled in my life! I refused to leave my purse with him and took a picture as he and his checker heckled. I have called the District Manager - Johnny Flores and he offered me a gift card to the store and assured me that the employee will be reprimanded. I don't want a gift card- I need the employees of any public store to have respect and behave in a non- racist fashion. I will take this all the way to the media. This is but one way to in form all their patrons about how bad the employees of this store is from management to checker. Please don't give...
Read moreI am absolutely disappointed with the shopping experience at this grocery store. Firstly, the choice of goods leaves much to be desired. Also often there is a fraud of buyers. Old price tags that do not reflect the real value of the goods and make it possible to deceive buyers.
In addition, the service in this store leaves much to be desired. Cashiers and salespeople are disgusting. Very often you have to wait a long time until someone from the staff decides to pay attention to you. Also, there are always long queues!
The prices in this store are higher than in other grocery stores in the area. I don't see any benefits to justify such inflated prices. I also really don’t like that when I come to the store, I always have to look for a basket for myself, because there are none in place. You always have to go and look for these baskets all over the store! Also, in order to buy goods from a closed window (for example, shampoo or shaving cream), the buyer will have to stand in a long line at the cashier, although the self-service line is free! It's just wild.
In general, this purchase for me was one of the most negative. I will look for other stores where I can find better products at a better price and get better service. Also, your security guard is inadequate. Allows himself to swear at customers, scare them. I absolutely do not...
Read moreI am extremely disappointed with the treatment my mother has been receiving from the manager, Nigin, at Jons Marketplace. On multiple occasions, Nigin has shown a blatant disregard for my mother. Whenever my mother approaches her register, Nigin purposely switches places with another cashier or opens a new line, only to ignore my mother and assist other customers instead. The situation reached a peak yesterday when Nigin came over specifically to ask the cashier my mother was paying with how she intended to pay, whether with cash or card. This unnecessary and targeted questioning is both baffling and troubling. It's clear that Nigin has an inexplicable fixation on my mother, and it’s creating a very unpleasant shopping experience. This kind of behavior from a manager is unacceptable and unprofessional. I hope Jons Marketplace addresses this issue promptly to ensure that all customers are treated with the respect they deserve. As this is our local market we would love to continue showing support however if we experience this again we will just start...
