Beautiful church with abundant history! The Catholic Church is over 219 years old, located in Old City, Philadelphia. The artwork adorning the walls and ceiling were created for an illiterate population so very visual. The upper balcony is closed to visitors but the alter is stunning as are the many paintings and stained glass windows. Fun fact: this is the church that was featured in the classic 1999 film, The Sixth Sense, a movie with one of the best twists in movie history.

Beautiful church, steeped in Augustinian imagery. A restful place in the midst of the city, which is fitting for the patron.

There is also a review of this Parish on YELP-Philadelphia. This Order of Priests provides each person in the church with a wonderful authentic religious experience. Significantly different from the Diocesan Parishes that are most prevalent throughout the five county region. Most masses have beautiful music, cantors with wonderful voices, and a homily that weaves the readings in our real life experiences, so that you leave the mass knowing that no matter how challenged we have been by our faith in recent years as Roman Catholics, this Church lets us know all is not lost and ALL are welcome. The congregation(s) vary by mass time, the 7 PM mass on Sunday has many members in their mid to late 20's and early 30's. This is probably the best example that all is not lost for our faith, given the many recent scandals, and questionable decisions made by current Dioceses leadership. You will leave this beautiful church with a sense of purpose and pride that you are a practicing...

I recently read about the vibrant Philippine community at St. Augustine and decided to surprise my wife—who recently moved from Manila to the U.S.—with Sunday Mass at the church. The experience was truly special. The church itself is beautiful, but what stood out most were the amazing parishioners who welcomed us so warmly and made us feel like we truly belonged.

Even days after our visit, the fellowship and kindness we received continue to resonate deeply with both of us. As a lifelong Catholic, I can honestly say I’ve never felt such a profound sense of belonging in a church. Growing up, attending Mass always felt like a requirement passed down from my parents. But this was different. For the first time, I felt genuinely at home.

Thank you, St. Augustine, for reminding us what community and faith can...

What an incredible place to be. Went into the church this evening for Ash Wednesday mass and felt like I was meant to be there. I have been part of the same parish for over 20 years, moved to Philly one month ago and was hoping I would find a place that felt like home. The music was stunning, the homily was easy to connect to and the parishioners were welcoming and friendly. I felt my mother’s presence calling to me when I saw the St Nicholas of Tolentine statue and knew I got this one right the minute I walked through the doors. The bonus was receiving confession after mass; feeling safe and emotionally and spiritually held by the priest was such a gift. I can’t wait to...
