The Icehouse is a unique jewel in the original townsite of Phoenix AZ. Three historic warehouses joined together, and, a loading dock. The small native garden with an urban fish pond , and expansive fenced parking lot, makes one feel that they have escaped the Maricopa municipal complex that looms around the area. It was lost lands of vacant lots in the area for decades. The warehouse district Was approximately 400 warehouse. Now, approximately 40 warehouses remain. The warehouse district, a once bustling area of the original town site of Phoenix, turned desolate at one point. There was a time when the trains were the best mode of transporting goods and passengers. There was a need of fuel and ice, and the Icehouse, and adjacent buildings provided that service. After the demand for ice faded, the use of the building was no more. For a time, the buildings were used by the city for storage of evidence. In 1992, the Icehouse sold to the Hestenes family. Helen Hestenes put her stamp on the Icehouse, creating an incredible space. Open to artists, and, the public. 25 years of sustaining a unique collection of buildings in the center of all Phoenix is remarkable, in my eyes. The Icehouse has a gallery that reminds one of being in SoHo. ( The Icehouse is an active participant, contributing by showing ecletic art collections on First Fridays, and Art Detour in March.) Adjacent, a building that is open to the sky: a private courtyard. Then, the 'silver' room, a blank space available for large dinners (up to 250 people), events, photo shoots, etc. There is a large outdoor patio space; a reception area riddled with fine sunsets. Private events, weddings, art gallery, unique historic structures, central location the Icehouse Complex.... The cornerstone of...
Read moreI got married here last October and honestly am so thankful we found this unique venue and got to work with Jayme. Jayme is hands down one of the most talented and creative people I've had the pleasure of working/partnering with and we owe so much to her for making our day amazing. Jayme and I worked through the creative aspects the year leading up to the day - I was very relaxed and open to what she had in mind and trusted her fully. She blew it out of the water and ensured everything was perfect, even on our day which ended up having torrential rain, resulting in the venue literally being under water an hour before the ceremony. Jayme and team were literally on their hands and knees clearing the water and making the outside ceremony space work - way above and beyond than anything we could have asked. I will say that this venue is not for everyone - if you are uptight and want a more traditional wedding/experience, this is not the place for you. If you're open minded and want a truly unique/one of a kind venue and can go with the flow, you cannot find a better place in Phoenix. The ceremony cathedral room is so beautiful and the whole space has a very artistic feel to it. The other amazing aspect of this venue is that you are able to bring in all of your own vendors and own alcohol, a huge plus when dealing with an overpriced wedding industry. This venue is truly amazing and it's worth exploring if you are looking to host a unique event in the downtown Phoenix area. Thank you...
Read moreWe had our wedding at The Ice House in October of 2024 and rented the space through Cloth & Flame. It’s full of beauty and character and it’s impossible not to fall in love; The space is even more stunning in person and once your vendors bring it to life, it becomes absolutely one of a kind!
If you’re looking for an industrial and eclectic vibe with the freedom to choose your own vendors (instead of being limited to a preferred list), I cannot recommend The Ice House enough. The flexibility allowed us to truly make the space our own and the on-site staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Plus, with no sound ordinance restrictions we were able to keep the celebration going late into the night, which was a must for us! :)
It’s a bit dustier than your average venue due to its outdoor/ roofless nature, and parking is limited, but those are such small tradeoffs for an incredible location that creates a truly beautiful setting. You...
