Purchased 2 tickets as my brother ordered another 2 next to us in the corner seats to see The Conjuring at 9:50 , as we walk in we noticed the worker who told us what theater told us a theater that said 10:05 instead , so we walk back and ask “hey the theater you told us says 10:05 “ we told him our tickets are for 9:50 as we couldn’t see any 9:50 time around us and he still confirmed the 10:05 was the correct theater . I forget something in my car so had to run back out and came back in as he still confirmed the 10:05 was the right theater (3rd confirmation of 10:05 theater being the correct theater for our 9:50 movie )As we sit into the movie in our so believed seats we have people approach us very upset and disrespectful saying we are in their purchased seats, after about 10 minutes of them with flash lights out asking what seats we are in trying to figure out what , we both show our tickets as they say the same seat #. They sit near us and about 10 minutes pass by . A manger then comes approaches us demanding our seat tickets very unprofessionally , then after seeing it tells us we are in the wrong movie theater as we can stay but have to move seats . As I’m thinking this is a misunderstanding because of knowing the seats I’ve purchased. I asked him what theater it is our correct one , he states theater 4 which was never brought up then he walks out . We decided to leave to the correct theater after already missing 10-15 minutes of the movie where we couldn’t find a worker as we got out . We looked around for theater 4 and noticed it was the first theater after us being all the way down the hall, the display screen stating what theater and time was NOT on which is probably why their own worker didn’t know the correct theater , we begin looking for the worker who informs you of what theater and couldn’t find him , as we ask a near worker where he could be the manager comes out again stating we can go back to the theater we were organically in. Mind you we’ve already missed about 15 plus minutes of the movie now. After stating they made a mistake on giving us the wrong theater number and confirming they didn’t have the display screen on for theater 4 we asked for a refund after having our movie experience ruined with a lot of commotion and money wasted just to not even fully see the movie we purchased tickets for . Manger was clearly upset over us asking and then stated “it’s only been 2 minutes you can’t just go back in ?” As it has NOT been 2 minutes of time we missed of the movie . Mind you this is the MANAGER . I confirmed that we would want a refund , they completely made us deal with the problem without any sort of help other than us accepting the missed time of the movie and finding new seats or taking a refund which he states comes in gift cards only . Ended up leaving with no movie and gift card with the refund of 2 tickets on the price of a Tuesday, guess I have to wait for another Tuesday or I’ll just ending up wasting...
Read more3/30 Update: Megaplex used to have a GREAT rewards program which would reward frequent customers on a regular basis. Not anymore. Now, they don't automatically give you rewards. You have to go online and figure it out yourself, and then... when you go online to consider cashing in your Kool Aide points for a reward, they've jacked up the cost of them. I used to get free movie tickets ALL the time. Now? You get 500-1000 points for a movie ticket, right? The cost of a free ticket? 30 THOUSAND points!!!! Are you freaking kidding me? I have to buy THIRTY tickets to get ONE free ticket? Gee thanks, guys! It's already a joy to see ever square inch of the theater absolutely covered in advertisements. I mean, we're already paying for the movie ticket and the exorbitantly priced food--that's all part of the deal. I get that. But, I've never been to a theater chain that seems more corporate than LHM's Megaplex
Nov 2018: I've been to this theater many times in the past and it was okay, but not great. Tonight, I came up to see a free showing of Creed II. I knew that there would likely be a long line as it's a popular title and so I drove up from 7200 South and got there two hours early. Upon my arrival, I was informed that they'd already given out all the seats (I'd printed out my two tickets for my friend and I) and... that was it.
I was excited to see the film, planned ahead, printed out the tickets, invited my friend, and drove 70 blocks (and she'd driven up from Orem) to see this movie that I've been anticipating for some time now. There was no compensation for my time--not even an apology for the time and gas wasted. We were just turned away. I'm incredibly unimpressed, and I'd think that a cinema in a dying mall would try harder, because it certainly leaves me wanting to visit any other theater than this one.
I do not recommend; go somewhere else where they actually care about their patrons. I wasn't late. I wasn't on standby. I had tickets on-hand and they turned us away, because they purposely overbooked. Get your...
Read moreI’ve been to this theater a few times. It is an “alright” place, meaning it is a movie theater, and ever since City Creek opened up, which is like a glitzier, fancier, cleaner, less homeless people version of the gateway, the gateway mall has gone downhill quite a few hills ago. They MUST be losing money. I bet, year over year, their ROI has been tanking, and their marginal retail investment ratio has been like below 15%.
Like, I walked through and there were all these weird stores that I’ve never heard of. I don’t even remember their names, but I remember that I don’t know them. They do have a Dave and Buster’s, which is nice, but it’s not really a place I could see two people falling in love. This is more like a place that I would go to shop if I lost my job and someone slipped something in my drink at the restaurant because they wanted to take me out (kill) but I saw the look in their eye as they walked past, so I was able to run out of the restaurant, but I was totally disoriented and didn’t recognize my surroundings (Gateway) because it just is not a very nice place to be anymore.
But the movie theater is still there, so you gotta give them credit. The buying tickets experience is cool. You pretty much give the people cash or your credit card and they give you a movie ticket (IT’S THAT SIMPLE PEEPS), and then you go sit in a dark room with a bunch of strangers (if you’re watching a good movie. If it’s a craappy movie then you might be in a huge dark room all alone) and watch the movie. I don’t usually watch very many movies, but when I do, I consider where I want to go carefully, and I have been to this place at least once in the...
