We've been going to Harkins locations for years and love the new Camelview location that opened a few years ago. We especially like the reserved tickets and the reclining seats. But today was different. First there was confusion at the customer service counter in the lobby as I tried to get a closed captioning device. Even at 10:45 on a Friday morning there were lots of people waiting for the two customer service reps which was fine except there was confusion as to whether there was a waiting line or not. Harkins needs to put up some waiting line guide ropes or something so everyone knows where to wait for the next rep. I thought there was going to be an old folks theater rage moment this morning! Having secured my captioning device set for "The Mule" in theater 4 we proceeded to the refreshment stand where a brand new employee tried and tried to get our small popcorns and Icees. We couldn't get our favorite Blue Icees because apparently both machines were in the defrost cycle so had to settle for the Red instead. So, as I started to insert my credit card to pay the $24 tab (those recliners ain't free and I understand that) on the geedunk, I was informed that the machine for whatever reason didn't work and I would have to pay cash. Fortunately my wife was better prepared for this emergency and avoided what surely would have been a 911 situation and paid the required cash. So off we went to our preferred top row seat to watch "The Mule". And watch the movie was all I was able to do since my captioning device didn't work at all. Even though it was set for theater 4 it would not connect; not the first time I've had this problem. Not wanting to hike down the steps and back out to the lobby to exchange the unit I enjoyed "watching" the movie. My wife reported that it was a good one. I'm sure one day soon it will by on Amazon Prime or HBO and I will watch AND listen to it then with closed captioning. Obviously there are some things that Harkins management needs to do differently. Next time we go (and I'm sure we will because I will not let this one bad experience cloud my overall favorable judgement) I hope we have a five...
Read moreThe layout & ambience are very nice, and it really could be a place to keep visiting,.. Although - Not sure if, or how often we would in the future.
This location, VERY SURPRISINGLY, is the absolute worst Harkin's we've ever visited/order concessions from.
Luckily, we didn't have to pay for our tickets for this visit,.. but it definitely didn't take away from the aggravation there.
They are the most unorganized theater facility that we've ever experienced.
Most of the STAFF, with the exception of really only a couple, were truly SO VERY NICE, FUN, and HELPFUL!
The CONCESSIONS area really NEED HELP. Not sure if they're understaffed, (which it seemed like),.. But overall, the place is in NEED OF BETTER MANAGEMENT.
We ordered at one end of the counter, near our theater viewing room, and was sent to the other side of the counter to wait for our food. I had to run back one of our little's when the movie was starting,.. (that had come with me to help carry drinks, popcorn, and a hot dog meal, (hot dog, fries, and one of the drinks),.. Hurried back, and still nothing. So many people waiting. I missed almost 30 mins of the movie, and had to make 2 trips to get everything to the theater, as I had my husband wait with the kids.
Then, after the movie, with having ordered the extra large popcorn that comes with 1 'refill at time of visit', it was such a problem to even get our refill. The 'guy' was not very friendly, AT ALL, though I tried to be nice, considering they'd been busy off & on,.. He'd said he was going to get it, after he had checked our account. Nope! Comes back with a CONCESSIONS MANAGER to verify our account also, and she was NOT friendly either.
We do not like being treated as if we are liars, AND - We usually buy the POPCORN PERK every year now, although it had literally just expired recently.
Side note's - *During this concessions time, never once seen the actual theater manager, who wasn't friendly to anyone in line before the movie, which the lines, etc - were also a giant fiasco! *Restroom was clean, as was the facility. *Movies & sounds were great!
So,.. with that, not too sure about coming back after...
Read moreVery difficlut to find. Signage was not immediately apparent coming from the East parking lot. Best advice is to take the elevator to the topfloor and your're there. .
I was wowed by how posh this location was. It was elegant, beautiful and enchanting. I love the runway lights and the column of digital signage that showed a stary night that the runway led to. There is a classy lounge area and an outdoor pattio with moveable walls so the lobby can extend out. This is a movie theater that I would lable ROMANTIC! A perfect palce for sweethearts to hangout. I was toatally star struk by this place.
There is also a great sence of humor too. the social distancing signage on the floor was a crack up with all the movie coments about keeping your distance in very creative ways. The movie hall had props from classic movies like Fantasia (my favorite) and Spae Odysse. So make sure you look up as you make your way to your theater.
The screens were huge. The walls had red decorative lighting that never turned off but funny enough, when you were looking straight ahead at the movie it didn't register as being visiable until you looked staight at the wall agian. Weird optical effect. I loved it. Mad science at it's best. The chairs were so relaxing and had those automatic foot rest to allow you to lounge back in comfort.
The restroom, oh my goodness the restrooms! I about had a heart attach when I opened the door to the women's restroom and was greeted by a mob of paparazzi and their camera's pointed at me. Yes greeting you as you entered the restroom was a mural of men with camera staring at you. That was uncomfortable and yet so funny. After that first starttlement I found the restroom very posh too. You'll truly feel like a movie star here. Saddly the mens room, according to my husband, was on the plain functional side.
Afterwards we did find signage but it was overhead and you had to crank you head up to see it. It seemed tat the signage was made for people who were already in the mall.
I look forward to my next adventure here. This was an amazing theater. Well...
