It's not a bad place. For the price it could use some updating. The game room/arcade activity room whatever they call it.... It was actually pretty rundown and junky. The pool table was missing one of the sides and the felt ripped up. The one arcade game didn't work and the other table was also old and in need of repair. The indoor pool has definitely seen better days. The pictures are deceitful for this particular area. When booked, we were to pay the taxes and I believe we were misled. More than expected. But we were assured that we would receive $150 back from sitting in a timeshare. We assumed this meant 150 out of the taxes that we paid which were close to 300. The 150 was not from the resort, as we thought. We put $150 deposit down with monster travel who booked it, and the refund that we were supposed to get was actually the $150 gift card given by the resort but it wasn't actually the refund from the resort. It was the refund from monster. We were led to believe that we would get our deposit back from the booking agency and then the $150 in gift card we received back, would be from the actual hotel and the fees that we paid for taxes. That was not the case. We got nothing back from the actual hotel. And we put an additional $50 deposit down for cleaning. Fully refundable. We did not get a refund and there was zero mess when we left. They claim that they state all of this stuff before you accept and maybe they do, but they talk a thousand miles an hour on the phone going over there script and very easily anybody can misinformation because there's so much and they say it so quickly. So that's tricky on their part. Plus, every single phone call I've made you can barely hear the person on the other end. Doesn't matter what phone you use. So I guess you're kind of trusting and maybe that was my fault. But for the price of the villas, they need upgrades. And the decorating is nothing impressive to me. But I will say, there really is everything that you need while you're staying there like a fully furnished and stocked home. Right down to the shampoo and the dishwasher soap. And of course Sedona is beautiful. But I suggest paying close attention before you agree. It's always the fine print that gets you. But they know that when they're doing that and that just isn't great ethics in my mind. Would I pay the full asking price to stay there? No way. I went because my mother had a reservation for a timeshare and ended up in the hospital for cancer and could not go. So I just transferred it into my name. And she's old so there's that. She was...
Read moreHorrible communication and horrible treatment. They intentionally locked my family out of our room at night and left us in the cold by deactivating our room keys. My wife, a 1 year old and a 5 year old. I had to track down a worker passing by at 9pm to request to be let into our room only told be told no one was supposed to be in our room. After a stern conversation, the employee let my wife and kids into the room while I went to the front desk to sort out the issue. Upon going to the front desk I was told I wasn't supposed to be in the room and was accused of staying in the room without a reservation. I showed the employee my reservation email confirmation to which I was questioned how I went about checking in and again told I was not supposed to be in the room. This was after staying in the room for two nights... The employee at the front desk told me they checked someone else into our room who noticed our personal belongings and left to report back to the front desk. I had thousands of dollars worth of equipment in the room which thankfully didn't go missing. I reported this on an electronic comment card to Villas of Sedona and left my email and telephone number expecting some kind of apology... three weeks later still no response. This could have been handled much better by calling into the room or sending someone to my room to speak with me. Instead they chose to lock a family of 4 out in the cold and never bothered to apologize even after being informed of the incident.
The rooms were nice and spacious but dated. The property was well kept. The location was very good and quiet.
I planned on coming back and making this a yearly vacation spot, but I am astounded at the way they handled their...
Read moreThe resort General Manager (Martin) and his team do an outstanding job of maintaining the units, keeping the grounds immaculate and assisting with nearly any guest request. Any team member we encountered had a positive, helpful attitude and were more than willing to be of help. The unit furnishings (as had been noted in other reviews) are somewhat dated but we were pleasantly surprised with the many upgrades already in place such as lighting, some furniture items, plumbing fixtures, comfortable beds, accent wall colors, well maintained kitchen appliances and nicely stocked utensils/plates/etc., flat screen TVs and ample bedding blankets/pillows. The location is ideal for wonderful hikes within 5-10 minutes of the resort and easy walking to many great restaurants, the beautiful independent Mary Fisher film festival theatre, very nice Harkins 6-plex theatre, Starbucks, Basha's supermarket plus any number of other retail locations. We dined at Dahl & DiLuca (so so good, make a reservation), a newer nearby yummy Thai restaurant (Fresh & Natural Thai Kitchen), the BEST pizza in Sedona, actually Oak Creek but worth the 15 minute drive (Rotten Johnny's Wood-Fired Pizza Pie) and Mariposa Latin Inspired Grill (not to be missed for a special night, reservations needed 5-7 days ahead for prime time). Hikes we loved included West Fork (bring a sandwich to enjoy at the end of the 3.5 mile trail), Fay Canyon, Brins Mesa, Cathedral Rock, Mystic Trail/Hogback, Chicken Point, Solider Pass, Teacup and Little Horse. Be sure to take 1 or 2 hikes in the afternoon so you can enjoy the setting sun. We can't wait to return to Sedona and stay at the...
