List Time! Reasons why I will avoid the AMC at RPS for the forseeable future: Concessions: overpriced garbage. Now I know that inflated prices for concessions are standard for movie theatres, but this was sad. We got my girlfriend one of their "gourmet" cheddar popcorns, which came in a pitifully small container (dwarfed by our soda cups even!). When she asked for butter, the clerk directed her to a "butter it yourself" station at the other end of the counter, which upon arrival we saw was covered in straw wrappers, popcorn bits, napkins, etc. If you are going to charge 6-8 dollars for less than a 32 oz cup of popcorn, we shouldnt be buttering it ourselves. And if you insist on that, we certainly shouldnt have to use a pumping area more at home in a gas station nacho bar than a theatre that charges 14 dollars for a movie. I ordered some salted pretzel bites, which i was told would take about 4-5 minutes to come out. As we had about 15 min until our movie, I advised we were ok with the wait. About 10 minutes later, I recieved my pretzels with another person, with a different clerk handing us our orders in such a way that caused us to be unsure as to whether or not I had recieved the correct item. Not once did I get any sort of update on how long the pretzels would take, even as I saw employees standing at the counter chatting with one another. Nor did i see any effort to clean up the filthy condiment areas or soda counters. After sitting down and eating, we were disappointed with the quality of both of our warm items. The "gourmet" popcorn was stale and tasted inferior to microwaved popcorn with walmart cheddar flavoring on top. The pretzels themselves tasted more bread-like than pretzel like, and the nacho cheese was the most bland nacho cheese I have ever consumed. It tasted like hot flavorless goop with peppers. Layout: So, you start on the 3rd floor of RPS, where you get your ticket and pick your seats (more on that later). You then go up an escalator to the lobby where you get concessions. Then if youre truly unlucky, you get to go up another set of escalators to arrive 2 floors up from the concessions stand where another 10-20 screens are. All while carrying 2 large sodas (protip: wait til you get to the top floor to fill it, as there is a single machine located there ostensibly for refills), popcorn, nachos, and candy. With no tray or box because the goobers at the concessions stand dont have or dont think to offer anything like that. Yeah, not very pleasant even with two people, especially for acrophobes like myself. Seating: Dumbdumbdedumbdumb. So a lot of people really dig the oversized seating. I myself dont go to the theatre for the privlege of sitting in a lazy boy. I go to see a movie that im too excited about to wait and see at home on demand for half the price with my own snacks and drinks and comfy couch. When you have these giant seats that take up 2-3 times the room of a normal theatre seat, you diminish the number of available seats per showing. This has several effects. The number of "good seats" decreases greatly, creating situations where all but the very front rows fill up quickly. This makes it vital to reserve seats ahead of the showing, as showing up even well before the showing wont guarantee you a spot. Furthermore, the theatre has to make up for the loss of potential revenue by increasing ticket prices for everyone, even those like me who dont care about being in luxury when im there to see a movie im excited for.
Final Verdict: Sneak in your snacks and soda, bring your own popcorn fixins, and pay ahead to diminish as much interaction with the employees as possible. Avoid altogether if possible. Go to one of the regal cinemas or even the Wandermere...
Read moreThe theatre itself is fine, and I really enjoyed seeing Waitress there. However, when I was leaving my purse tipped over and apparently my pill box slid out and must have ended up further under the seat next to me. I couldn’t see anything on the ground, and I thought I had everything. But within the next day or so I determined that my pillbox must have slid so far back that I couldn’t see it. I am a primarily bedridden senior and I can’t run down to the location to see if they had found or could please check where I knew it was probably still in the theatre. I tried everything that I could think of to contact the theatre staff. I explained in great detail what was missing, what it looked like, and exactly where it was probably lost. I explained why it was very important to me and asked that someone please call me back to let me know if they had found it. I never received any contact back from the theatre location. For all I know, my pillbox is still on the floor all the way under a seat. It was a gift from a now deceased friend and is very important to me. I tried to express that in the message, after going through a National recorded line that is given as the local theatre’s phone number online. It was all but impossible to find an actual phone number where I could speak with someone there. Finally I called the mall concierge, and after getting cut off a couple of times, they attempted to transfer me to the direct number. It was a recorded line, assuring that calls would be returned quickly. I left my contact information and explained why I was desperately concerned about my lost item. I never received any response...
Read moreSad due to the circumstances We went new years eve to see a showing at 830pm for our movie, movie started about 9pm. At 9:30pm Firealarm went off (probably due to fireworks they were doing at the main park in spokane wa.) Saw 30 minutes out of 2hrs and 4 minutes of our movie. They said depending on how long the alarm is on will depend on if they issue refunds. I spent $58 on my tickets 2 adults 1 child for the Imax experience. It was already 20 minutes by the time we got back to our parking garage, alarm was still going off fire trucks just got there. I have a child that can't go to bed super late Emailed main AMC to find out what can be done. I explained the situation. They said they can't issue a refund but can give me 3 movie ticket vouchers. It Will take 3 business days to get to my email. The thing that sucks is today is my last off for a while and with my family. I might get a day off with them again in a month. The movie will more then likely not be showing. I had 12/31/23 and 01/01/24 off due me requesting my birthday off for the first time in 5 years. Also even if we could go today the next showing we could see was going to cost us $36 to see so a loss of $22 dollars. •so can't see movie on day off anymore •if I were I would have pay and loss out on $58 (if I received vouchers) otherwise it's a loss of $94 •next time i can see it will be in a month with family (might not be in theaters)
Side note was handled awesome by the theater crew, and the amc person online I do appreciate you handling the best you can.
Just sucks start if the new year and my birthday...
