We were planning on having dinner there. I ordered something, checked if it was without cilantro. The waitress said "yes, its without cilantro". I dont like it and it upsets my stomach, wich is really painfull due to cancer treatment. When I got my order, I thought I saw cilantero in the pico de gallo. But since the waitress told me this meal was without, I took a bite, it was cilantro. I just went back to check. I asked kindy "Is is maybe possible to have this without the cilantro?". And the owner responded quite fiercely "Ofcourse not, I cant really get all the cilantro out can I?! This is made 24 hours earlier!" Like I should know all that, and that I was weird to even ask. I was a bit shocked because of the way he reacted, he really came across a little agressive (in hindsight maybe he thought he was funny? I dont know). He saw I was shocked by his reaction. In order to calm me down, he touched me/grabbed my arm. I really dont like to be touched by strangers without my consent.
I went back to the table, crying. Ive never reacted like that before, and Im not new at asking things in restaurants. The waitress came, saw I was crying and got the owner. He was still pretty fierce. When I told him I was just asking a question and did not mean any harm, and that I found his response quite fierce/agressive, he said I was wrong. There were 3 other people who saw it, and he was just acting normal he said. He also said he was on pills/medication, not quite sure why or in what context. He was sorry he ruined our night, but he did not do anything wrong. When I said he touched me and I did not like that, he bend over to do it again to show me and my partner it was nothing bad. That was so weird. Just dont touch me please, especially not when Im crying and I dont know you.
At that point I was done. We told him we were going to leave. And that was ok. We ofcourse did not pay for the drinks and food we did not get to eat/drink. I dont know if this is just his personality, but Im used to more hospitality from people working in restaurants. In most restaurants there are cilantro free options or they prepare it without the cilantro for you. He could have simply said "Oh Im so sorry. But since we make the pico de gallo 24 hours before it is not possible. We do not make one without the cilantro. Is there anything else I can...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Agave Restaurant with a big group, and it was quite the experience. The restaurant offered awesome Tex-Mex cuisine and a selection of good drinks, but there were some noticeable challenges.
Let's start with the positives. The Tex-Mex food at Agave Restaurant was fantastic. The flavors were rich and authentic, delivering that perfect blend of spices that Tex-Mex cuisine is known for. From the mouthwatering tacos to the flavorful enchiladas, every dish left a lasting impression.
The drinks menu was also a highlight. They had a good selection of beverages, including cocktails and mocktails that complemented the Tex-Mex flavors perfectly. Whether you're a fan of traditional margaritas or prefer something non-alcoholic, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
However, there was a notable downside to the dining experience – a long backlog in the kitchen. With a big group, our orders seemed to have overwhelmed the kitchen staff, resulting in considerable delays in serving the food. This waiting period was a bit frustrating, especially when hunger levels were high.
Despite the delays, the staff at Agave Restaurant remained courteous and apologetic. They were understanding of the situation and tried their best to accommodate our group. While the service may have been affected by the kitchen backlog, the staff's professionalism was commendable.
In conclusion, Agave Restaurant offers awesome Tex-Mex food and a variety of good drinks that capture the essence of the cuisine. While the long backlog in the kitchen did affect the overall experience, the flavors and ambiance were still enjoyable. If you're planning to visit with a big group, it might be worth considering off-peak hours to avoid potential delays. Overall, Agave Restaurant is worth a visit for a taste of delicious Tex-Mex flavors, even though some challenges in service might be encountered...
Read moreAgave Restaurant is a very nice Mexican place a few minutes walk from the center of Old Town, Prague. Living in the US, and big fans of Mexican food, we definitely have some high standards - despite this, we were very impressed with the food we got here! Some of it might not necessarily have been that traditional, but it was a neat blend of Mexican and European, and it turned out excellent! We got the following: frozen mango margarita, piña colada, azetca guacamole, salad with beef taquitos, quesadilla pollo con mole verde, tacos de cerdo ibérico, tacos dorados de birria, and the atole for dessert. For a Mexican restaurant way out in Prague, thousands of miles away from Mexico, the food was really good! Very flavorful!
The drinks were both great - super fresh and absolutely no complaints whatsoever. The azteca guacamole was amazing! It was a unique spin on classic guacamole and ended up being one of the best we’ve had. The salad with beef taquitos was amazing as well - one of the best salad dressings we’ve ever had, and the beef taquitos (while not crispy like normal) tasted excellent! The quesadilla pollo con mole verde was very good too - even though it wasn’t like traditional mole, it just tasted really good. You’ll definitely like it! And the same goes for the birria - definitely not like normal, but the flavor profiles were spot-on and definitely a dish you’ll be very happy getting. The tacos de cerdo ibérico were super good! No complaints!!
The atole was an AMAZING end to the meal - the Mexican donuts were so, so good and something I wish I had more of. I am going to try to make these at home because they just don’t have anything like this in Mexican restaurants in Florida!! All in all, an excellent restaurant, and certainly worth stopping in if you’re craving Latin food in Prague. Definitely make a reservation (because it gets really...
