Old, dingy, drafty, and cramped. Reception is located at the end of long corridor that is shared with other businesses, making it difficult to locate at first. The reception area is also the common area with the kitchen, which is incredibly inconvenient as you have to walk down all the stairs, exit the main dorm area, to access it. There is no lift at this location, and the stairway is very “vintage”, and with that comes with the typical smell of a dingy basement. The particular dorm I was in was at the end of a long drafty corridor and once you enter, you are immediately greeted with a three-level bunk bed. To the left, and the right, two additional three-level bunks will be found and you will quickly find yourself extremely cramped. The first bunk option is horrible in all regards, as you are either pretty much on the floor, able to receive the cold draft coming from under the door as you sleep, or if you are on the second bunk, you will be face to face with every single person that enters the room. The only highlight of the room is the lockers that are available for storage. However, to access the lockers in this particular dorm, as well as the toilet, required you to walk sideways between the two sets of bunks. What is the point of having lockers if you can’t actually fit your bag through the extremely narrow passageway between the bunks to put it in? The toilets and showers were actually pretty not bad at all. This location seems to be only concerned with fitting as many beds in a room as possible and not comfort. From a price perspective, you definitely get what you pay for here. For someone that is looking for a capsule experience without the capsule, you will...
Read moreAs a group of around sixty students on an integration trip, we were looking for a hotel in Prague that could accommodate us, and we chose Hostel Orange for its excellent location and very positive reviews, and we were not disappointed. I would like to highlight the very good communication and reactivity by email, and once we were there they helped us organise our accommodation and recommended some very good places to eat in Prague. The card and locker systems were very practical, especially for a large group like ours. The cleanliness was perfect. Despite the fact that the beds are bunk beds, it was very pleasant to sleep there, there was enough space for everyone and the curtains are very practical. Although the hotel is located on a very busy high street during the day, we didn't notice any noise at all. The communal area with kitchen is also very practical. We greatly appreciated the involvement of the hotel staff who helped us to settle in, answered all our requests and took care of finding and reserving a restaurant for us that could accommodate so many people. We can only...
Read moreAn incredibly well located hostel (tucked away just off one of the main streets. You have to walk down a small corridor that also leads to a restaurant) at a reasonable price. The attractions are all within walking distance as well as many places to shop and eat. It's also only a five minute walk from the train station.
The rooms and bedding are all clean but the rest of the hostel looks a bit grubby in places. The staff are friendly and are able to offer good advice on things to do in the city.
As Prague has a big drinking culture you might be woken up by drunk people partying, either downstairs or in the streets, however if you're there for a good time, the location offers an easy bed to return to after a long night on the town.
The kitchen facilities are a bit grubby and minimal. Be sure to get there early if you want to cook your dinner without any disruptions.
The common room offers a great place to meet fellow travellers, as well as a great place for pre-drinks. The hostel also organised pub crawls for you to meet other visitors and have...
