Pension TARA — Hotel in Prague

We had the worst experience ever in that place.||I’ve booked a three night stay. When you arrive at “reception” your first impression isn’t good especially when they say thant they won’t take any responsibility about your belongings. Then when you are going upstairs to your room you gonna see several warnings saying “keep the doors locked for your own safety!!!” and the same warning is right behind your room door. ||First morning after sleep in an awful and filthy room I went to take a shower and then someone starts to banging really loud and strong at our door almost breaking it. He said that he was a policeman but I thought weird because he doesn’t spoke a single word in English. At this point I was wrapped in a towel, petrified and shaking while I was thinking that could be an assault and we could be raped and killed right there! Ten thousands things going on our heads. My partner was crying and shaking as well. He kept banging the door about 3 minutes while I was yelling that I dind’t speak his language.||I didn’t have idea about what to do then I tought “if I don’t open he is going to put this door down”. When I open I saw a man (handyman) and a woman (recepcionist) staring at me. She asked how we entered there, how we did get the keys and who we were. All these questions in an excellent english. Why she didn’t speak to me instead him??? ||We packed our belongings and left the place right away. Don’t stay there, they don’t have idea what happens there, the place is awful and absolutely filthy and as we could see, it seems really dangerous, because of the warnings and because they thought that we were squatters or...

Our stay here was good as it was easy to find and very close to Old Town which makes it easier to access the way to Prague Castle. The only problem i encounter is that they dont have phone to call the reception at all and considering we are at the 4th floor (they dont have lifts) it is easier to go up and down it is really a struggle.||Plus they said borrowing the hair dryer and iron is free yet they asked us 50euro to be returned once we returned the item as well. The deposit is not the problem. The problem i think is that theyre reception is only from 9am to 8pm and so when we were about to checkin at 7am (which we informed them as well) no one is there to give us our money back. The housekeeper is there but he is not aware not speaking in English and so we didnt bother getting the 50euro. ||Unfortunate yet lucky in a way we got left by the train on our way to Bratislava and so we went back to the hotel and took our 50euro back. ||Anyway id still love to check in in this hostel if i will be given an option to only get a hotel room in the first or 2nd floor ONLY.||Make sure you have shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush and toothpaste as well as they dont provide this...

We primarily came to visit Prague for the Guns N' Roses gig. We stayed for 4 nights, and in truth, just wanted somewhere to lay our heads and also somewhere that was well located in the Old Town. That's what we got!||The accommodation is basic, as it is only 2 star rated. ||You get breakfast included in the restaurant underneath the hostel. This is nice to sit outside on the street if the weather is good, and watch the market traders setting up.||We found the staff very helpful and friendly. They arranged a taxi from & to the airport for us which was very punctual on both journeys.||Free WIFI is available, although sometimes can lag.||||Overall this hostel did the job for us personally, and I would recommend it, but may fall below some peoples standards.
