I came here on vacation with my grandparents after hearing good things about the place. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the most disappointing dining experiences we've had on our trip.
From the moment we arrived, the service was shockingly unwelcoming. Our server—a woman with short brown hair—greeted us with a noticeably poor attitude. When my grandfather asked a simple question about the wine, she abruptly cut him off by saying she didn’t speak English. Oddly enough, she then proceeded to take our entire order in English without issue. It felt dismissive and unnecessarily rude.
To make matters worse, another staff member seemed visibly irritated when my grandmother politely asked for olive oil for the bread. After that, it was as if we were being silently punished for being tourists. No check-ins, no small talk—just cold silence. Plates were dropped off and cleared without a word. We were given the bill immediately after finishing, as though we were being rushed out. At that point, we honestly didn’t mind leaving.
The food itself? It was okay. Certainly not enough to make up for how unwelcome we felt. What could’ve been a pleasant lunch turned into a deeply uncomfortable experience that left a bad taste—one that had nothing to do with the food.
If you're visiting and don't speak French, I’d strongly recommend avoiding this place. Hospitality should be universal. Sadly, it was completely...
Read moreWe went into the place as a group of 5-6 people to dine. The waitress that served ous was very rude. We wanted some explanations on the dishes, and she wouldn't explain them to us - she said it is what you read. She wouldn't speak English (one of our group members spoke French, thankfully). When the food arrived , she had accidentally placed an extra dish for our table, which we did not order. We explained that we had not ordered that dish and she started screaming at ous because one of our group members ( who was puking since the morning and joined ous only for the company) had no dish and she should take that and eat it. She was screaming how unacceptable It is that this person didn't take a main dish, to the point that the whole restaurant went silent and was looking at our table. We explained politely that this person isn't feeling well and won't eat. Throughout our whole dining, she was very rude. As for the food, the meetballs were not tasty. The rib eye stake was quite good. The food was average, but the service ruined the...
Read moreVisited this traditional restaurant in the centre of Strasbourg on a Tuesday evening. About two minutes walk from the Cathedral.
Got a table without a reservation - clearly popular as majority of tables were reserved.
Service was excellent and attentive - drinks and food ordered quickly and options on menu explained well.
Food was beautiful - classic foie gras (my first time) was rich and tasty. As always with pate, not enough bread so additional table bread was very welcome. Main was huge - veal steak, stuffed with ham and local cheese, with mushroom sauce and some of the local spätzle - the traditional noodle-like side they do round here. Really tasty and rich.
No room for dessert; but I noticed they go black Forrest gateau, which I would have had.
The drink was a local version of Coke - Elsa’s Cola Zero - not bad actually.
Getting busier as we left. Clearly popular.
Would eat here again....
