My husband & I had the immense pleasure of staying for 10 nights at Hotel de L'Europe in Strasbourg once again for vacation. It was our 4th visit there in 12 years, and our 2nd 10 night stay. I can't say enough positive things about this wonderful 4 star hotel (which I think should be 10 stars). Hence, the reason we keep returning. Our twin double room was so spacious even with a sofa, a large shower, and they even gave us welcome gifts upon our arrival. And I thought the price of our room was very, very reasonable. The breakfast buffet had everything you could want from hot foods (eggs, sausage, bacon), to fresh cut fruit, fresh cut veggies, assorted cheeses, meats, yogurts, juices, coffees, teas, jams, assorted croissants & pastries, an assortment of delicious breads, and everything to make a healthy bowl of oats with nuts and seeds. I know I went overboard each day, but it was too irresistible. And now they even added daily complimentary afternoon refreshments in the lobby of coffee, lemonade, and the most delicious moist cake that I also found irresistible. Just as enjoyable as the food, is the wonderful staff from the Hotel Manager Marie Christine, to the other reception staff of Mark, Amine, Noem, and the wonderful breakfast room staff. The area is just a short walk away from Petite France area, tons of restaurants, shops, etc., and even just a short walk to the train station which we walked to several times to take short train rides to other cities like Colmar, Basel, etc. We even took the very short tram ride into Kehl, Germany. I highly, highly, highly recommend you look no further if you are looking for a hotel for your visit to Strasbourg, and I highly recommend Strasbourg as your base, if you want to visit this region of France. Trust me. If you go, it won't be your last time (we even met a man on the elevator who was just as pleased as we were, and he and his wife were already talking about returning). And if you do go, the only regret you will have is that your time there will be over and you have to leave sooner than you wish. But, you can always plan to return. My bonjours to all the staff if they read this, and good journey to all those who will go. I just had to take the time to write this review for a team that made our stay most enjoyable. We're just ordinary tourists like everyone else, but I know how important reviews are as I have written a book, and getting people to post a review is very difficult. Mary Therese...
Read moreWe've traveled to Europe four times and stayed in many different accommodations, but this hotel stands out as our absolute favorite. The property and rooms are full of charm and character. We stayed on the top floor in what was likely once an attic, now beautifully renovated with vaulted ceilings and exposed beams.
Our family room was exceptionally spacious, featuring a large, modern bathroom with dual sinks—perfect for our group of four adults. The layout was ideal, with a partial wall providing privacy between the sleeping areas, making it comfortable for both parents and our adult children (ages 19 and 21).
One of the highlights was walking up the grand staircase in the lobby to the first floor, where we were greeted by stunning, original-looking woodwork and curved ceilings—it truly felt like stepping back in time.
The hotel's location couldn’t have been better. It’s just a short walk from La Petite France, surrounded by numerous restaurants, shops, the train station, and major local landmarks. It served as the perfect base for our day trips to nearby villages and castles. We visited Colmar, Eguisheim, Riquewihr, and the impressive Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle. We even took a day trip to Paris, just an hour and a half away by train.
The breakfast buffet was also a standout. Though it came at an additional cost, it was absolutely worth it. The spread included fresh pastries, meats, breads, cereals, fruits, and a machine offering a variety of coffee options. There was also a nice selection of teas with proper steepers (not just bagged tea), along with jams and other accompaniments.
Overall, this hotel was a perfect blend of historic charm, modern comfort, and unbeatable location. We couldn’t have asked for a...
Read moreOne of the most welcoming and friendly hotels I have stayed in. The location is great providing close walking distance to all attractions and historic areas. The location also provides easy access by car and convenient parking if you are driving. There is Nespresso coffee maker and pastries all day everyday. There is a happy hour which provides free local wine and pastries everyday from 6 pm to 8 pm. They offer a mobile wifi hotspot for 1 euro a day which is one of the best connectivity solutions I have experienced while abroad.
The biggest plus about this place is the staff. From check in to checkout the staff did everything they could to make us feel welcome and provide above and beyond service. When we came back with a bottle of sparkling wine, the front desk lady got us a bucket with ice and two glasses. When we wanted to drink some local wine that we picked up, the ladies provided us a bottle opener and glasses. They provided great ideas for placed to eat and drink and even called and made us reservations.
The room we had was a bit small but seemed to be recently updated and was modern, clean, quite, and comfortable. The bathrooms were huge to include a giant tub. The rooms also had coffee and tea as well as bottled water that were all refilled daily. The house keeping is also wonderful and they cleaned our room mid day after we got a late start.
Overall the high level of personalized service, attention to detail, great location and modern rooms made this hotel one of the best I have stayed in while in Europe. Great work to the staff...
