Wow I am struggling to find the words to describe our stay. From the moment the staff greeted us from our taxi to the moment we left the service was exceptional. We stayed for 5 nights in the Cave Grand suite with private heated pool our only regret was not staying for longer, maybe next time. A small, intimate & quiet hotel with friendly staff who go above and beyond. Your breakfast is served on your private terrace, you place you order the day before, on arrival we booked ours for 9.30 every day. Lots of choice, the scrambled eggs with feta and tomatoes were delicious as was the omelettes, fresh baked bread rolls and much more. We were never disappointed. |The room was massive, 2 bedroom / bathrooms, lounge and dressing area, cleaning service was exceptional as well as a turn down service, we looked forward to our chocolates when we returned in the evenings. We enjoyed relaxing by our pool in the mornings and early afternoon taking in the amazing views whilst Oia village bustled above with tourists from the cruise ships though you wouldn’t know they were there. When we did pop out it never felt like the village was overawed with tourist and we loved the fact the they would all be looking at the hotel and others around it in awe taking photos.||The hotel is ideally located on the pedestrianised pathway where you can walk along to all the restaurants / bars, local sights and walk to the far end to see the famous sunset. Just across the road from the hotel was a lovely local bakery where we grabbed a takeaway lunch from every day and mini market is 2 minutes walk away.||We will be back. Thank you for making our stay so special and making my wife’s...
Read moreSO-- Due to only being able to spend two days in our first trip to Santorini we watched hundreds of hours of videos and read every review I could find in order to find the prefect place to stay. We chose Oia like everyone should if they can as it is just plain beautiful! Our checklist included best location in order to maximize out short time, crater view, privacy (a rare commodity in Oia) with an outside hot tub maybe all the thousands of visitors can look into from above, a few lounge chairs, a patio for eating, no more than $500 a night which is quite high for us, AND a great breakfast. Although we had focused in on 10 different hotels ALL of our checkboxes were met by Filotera Suites. It had it all-- privacy in the tub, awesome location in the middle of town, fantastic view, a working clean hot tub, sling chairs, patio for eating breakfast, and a tremendous staff. THIS hotel only has a few rooms, all the better to feel overcrowded, the bell met us at the taxi and took our luggage to the lobby (and wait until you see the lobby view!) AND we were served a TERRIFC breakfast at a time of our choice including omlettes, chocolate crepes and pancakes, fresh fruit, coffee, and croissants. WOW! |A large call out to the terrific staff ESPECIALLY Ayggro (I hope I spelled her name correctly!) she was so helpful including getting us an incredible table at Oia Gefsis for sunset at the last minute. SHE made our short stay awesome.|STAY HERE if you can-- you will not regret it-- WE...
Read moreWe stayed at Visanto — specifically in the only room with a private pool (I believe it’s called the Grand Cave). There isn’t much to do in Santorini, so you end up spending a lot of time in the room — it really needs to be worth it.
While the place is promoted as a luxury experience, there are a few aspects that could be improved: • There is a window near the pool that belongs to the bathroom of the neighboring room — not ideal in terms of privacy or atmosphere. • The air conditioning unit is mounted on the wall next to the pool area and makes a constant, loud, metallic humming noise, similar to a vibrating motor. • The sunbeds are made of hard plastic and get extremely hot under the sun — hot enough to burn your skin, even with towels on. Replacing them with rattan, wood, bamboo, or PVC alternatives would be much more comfortable and appropriate for the climate.
Also worth noting: in this area of Oia (and in most of the village), the sun doesn’t actually set into the sea, so the famous sunset view isn’t quite as spectacular from here.
On the positive side: the breakfast was excellent, the room is beautifully designed, stays cool throughout the day thanks to the materials used, and the views are absolutely breathtaking. The pool is also heated, which is a nice touch. And also the location, not on the crowdest part but...
