Should be renamed river house hovel.
For the money we paid, €300 for a 2 night stay, we expected better. To start with the lift doesn't work and we end up on the top floor. There were 6 rooms on the 3rd floor, the top floor and we were in room 305. It should really have just been 2, maybe 3 rooms to a floor but not 6. The rooms are tiny, the purple carpet which is on every landing as well as in the rooms, was dirty, the furniture was like from an old school dormitory. The furniture had had a lick of paint at some point in the past to try to cover stuff up but you could still see how bad this place is. The bathroom was worse... mould inside and above the shower cubicle, the lino was warped and black in places, the toilet bowl rocket forwards when you sat on it with the toilet seat sliding sideways, the sink mixer tap was loose. You also have to deal with the noise from the club/bar which is situated on the ground floor and goes on until 3am. Yes, it bothers you on the top floor...... BRING EARPLUGS!!! At 11pm on the Sunday night, the fire alarm goes off. No one has informed us of the procedure, but after 1min it stops. Upon checking the booklet left in the room, if you discover a fire you dial 0 for reception... but on what phone as none provided in room. We will never ever be back here or recommend this place to anyone. It's a dirty, black, mould ridden hole that needs shut down and a lot if renovation work done. NEVER AGAIN!!! The sad thing is that it's in a prime location and should be striving to be better, but instead,...
Read moreSo I order the single room with double bed. I didn't expect great. I expected Riverhouse to be old but we'll kept and clean. I will say that the lady receptionist listened to my complaints and accommodated me.
My complaints were that the floor was dirty. The shower curtain was stained. The tile in the bathroom was broken. I ordered a non smoking room, but either the room was smoked in previoulsy or the they smoke so heavily in the hallway that it permeates the room. The lift doesn't work. At midnight the bar below starts playing and goes on into the early morning (3 or 4 am).
Positive: I was given a new shower curtain to replace the old stained one. It was one of the plastic ones.
She came and vaccumed my room after my complaint.
Negative. It is rundown, dirty, and they have a non chalant attitude about everything I said. I was suppose to stay 6 nights. I stayed one and checked out the best morning after no sleep. I tried to get a refund and the morning receptionist told me no one but the manager could handle my complaint. I said fine and came back that afternoon. I talked to the manager about a refund and he told me at forstbi am not eligible for a refund. Unfortunately for him I can read. My booking said I could cancel with the first night and canncellation fee. He also told me that if I was on the 2nd floor I couldn't hear what was downstairs and that wasn't a valid reason for a refund. I was given half of money back.
Do not stay here. It...
Read moreSadly, my girlfriend and I had a very negative experience here. We stayed over St. Patrick's weekend and whilst we knew costs would spike for the festivities, we ended up paying €660 for 4 nights for a twin room. We accepted the cost as of course demand was through the roof and we wanted to be a part of the fun!
We would have accepted this cost and got on with our weekend had we not then experienced 3 of those 4 mornings without warm water from the showers. In addition to the lack of hot water we were also located (along side our 3/4 neighbours along the corridor) directly above the live band playing covers of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Brown Eyed girl on repeat every 30 minutes until 3am every night. The doors were almost falling off the hinges and were paper thin. Every time someone along the corridor closed their door, it felt like someone was entering your room.
To top this off on the last night there were three fire alarms that occurred in gaps of 2 hours making fully sure that we did not get any sleep.
The staff were lovely, welcoming and it's such a shame that they were not able to then, despite all of these humongous shortfalls as a hotel, not able to accept and acknowledge their faults with fair monetary compensation for the lack of hot water and a good night's sleep they had charged for so greatly.
I would not recommend it to anyone unless you are desperate to get a room in Dublin, then and only then as a...
