Higashiyama Hills, Kyoto — Hotel in Kyoto

As we wanted to stay in Kyoto for a whole week, we put a bit more research into booking this accommodation up front and it totally payed off. The Hotel doesn’t have a counter and check-in/out is self service. For us this was totally fine and we hardly met anybody there which makes it a really calm place. Other comments mentioned that they didn’t have enough towels for a longer stay, this was not our case, we had lots and lots of towels in different sizes right under the sink. Yes, the rooms will not be cleaned during the stay, but this is something I find unnecessary anyway for a couple of days. Our room was the one on the ground floor right next to the lounge with free water and amazing coffee from a nespresso machine. The room is so beautiful with furniture made out of real wood, indirect lighting and even the garden (not accessible) can be illuminated. The shower, toilet and sink are separated, which makes staying as a couple much easier. Location wise it’s really perfect, close to subway/bus, close to lots of sights + calm and charming by itself. Higashiyama Hills is conveniently situated in my favorite area of Kyoto.

Within walking distance of Maruyama park, Pontocho nightlife and Heian Jingu to name a few.

The rooms are very clean, the design of the hotel is cozy. It is also situated off the main road, resulting in a truly authentic Kyoto experience with the surrounding residential area and small alleys.
