Stayed at this hotel as it was too late to return to my home after a dinner meeting in town. The hotel is cheap so can't ask for much. Decor, paint and furniture really looks like an old Chinese mansion. It was very quiet when I checked in at 10pm that I thought a vampire might popped out from any of the room. There are a lot of mosquitoes in the toilet that I have to close its door all the time. I don't mind its antiquities, but cleanliness is something I think even a cheap hotel can do. The toilet was dirty, with some stain. The sink had some used toothbrush that I duly chucked out. I was definitely too tired to go down to lobby to complain, so end up washing the toilet myself to make it more habitable. The blanket is a bit smelly that I just used it to cover my feet. I checked out myself at 7am, but at that time the lobby was dark, and receptionist was still asleep. I just leave the key on the desk and walk out...
Read moreWe booked this place via Agoda because it was cheap and acording to their website it was close to where the Thaipusam fesitval was happening. When I asked how to get to it at reception I was told, walk to the main road and then get a taxi, so not close at all. The hotel itself is very basic but had air-can even though no remote so it was fully on or off. We had the room next to reception so every call they got was like an alarm clock. To say the place looks tired is an understatment, the rendering is fallin off the walls, the top part of the windows don't have any glass in them, no chance of getting a map of the area from reception, you feel the metal springs in the mattress, etc.... If you can look past all that it's not that bad I guess, tv with films in English, free wi-fi and only 60RM a night. In conclusion, we wouldn't stay here again but have had worse budget...
Read moreBooked via Agoda in a hurry to get a place. Starting out, I was a little disappointed by what I found at this hotel. It seemed close to nothing, few amenities, and next door to a mosque that put out call to prayer at 6:15 am or so every morning. The staff was very friendly, though, and very helpful at making sure I knew how to get around. Convenient to Chinatown and not too long of a walk from Little India and the ferry, with a good outdoor dining facility across the street that includes a White House Coffee and a Starbucks. The mosque wasn't nearly as disturbing as I feared, as well. As for the room, it was obviously old, a little dark, and kind of weirdly arranged, but also unique and definitely spacious with two beds big enough for four people without any problems. For the price, this is a pretty good deal, unless you require having a bar...
