I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Cherry Garden. The atmosphere truly lives up to the saying, “When you’re here, you’re family.”
When I first arrived, I was recovering from food poisoning, and the family kindly brought me fresh yogurt with local honey, along with herbal teas to help soothe my stomach. That kind of care and hospitality really stood out to me.
During my first stay, my room’s balcony didn’t have a private door, but it was still pleasant. When I returned after a trekking trip, I stayed in a different room with a lovely private patio overlooking the backyard. On clear days, you can even see the mountains from the rooftop, which is a real treat. There’s an outdoor area on the top floor and a rooftop where you can hang your laundry or just enjoy the view. The front garden is beautiful, with a seating area to relax. While the little gazebo is no longer there (due to difficulties sourcing materials for the roof), there are plenty of spots to hang a hammock—and if one isn’t up already, they’ll gladly put one up for you. They also maintain a charming kitchen garden in the back. Another thoughtful touch: they’ll securely store your luggage while you’re away trekking.
The hotel is just a short walk to Lake Street, far enough to stay peaceful but close enough to be convenient. There are also some small shops, stands, and restaurants nearby. I always felt very safe walking there, even alone at night as a solo female traveler.
The cleanliness really impressed me—especially the bathrooms, which were noticeably cleaner than at other similarly priced hotels I’ve stayed at in India and Nepal.
The rooms don’t have air conditioning, but you honestly don’t need it in Pokhara most of the time. The fans are powerful and keep the rooms cool and comfortable. While there wasn’t a tea kettle in the rooms I stayed in, the staff was always happy to prepare coffee or tea for me in the morning. A few times, they even insisted I join them for breakfast while we chatted—offering yogurt with fruit, which became my go-to while I was recovering.
As for trekking, I highly recommend using the services offered through the hotel. Madhab did an incredible job organizing a personalized trek tailored to my energy levels and needs as someone with a chronic illness. My guide, Chitra, was amazing—knowledgeable, friendly, and flexible. He made adjustments along the way and was encouraging and kind throughout the journey. The same goes for my porter, Mr. Gurung—he was supportive and never once made me feel bad about my pace. Instead, he helped me enjoy the experience as much as possible. Madhab also assisted with things like arranging taxis to the airport and helping with local recommendations. Everyone I interacted with was kind, and I felt the prices were more than fair for the...

Read moreWATCH OUT FOR THE OWNER. HE CAN SURPRISE YOU WITH THE PRICES AT THE END. We went to the hotel, after being told there would be a room for us, but at the place it turned out there was no room, so the owner put us in his brother's hotel. And we planned to come back to Cherry Garden after a few days. What we did. We've been said the room would be 1200 rupees, but hilenoaying the owner said it was misunderstanding and the room is 1500 per night. Because it was better room. I guess we should have been informed that h offered us more expensive room. He did no even say sorry and was kind of rude. The room was ok, clean. But there was no drinking water and only one towel for two person. And there was no hot water in the shower in the morning. And one more thing. Because I know the hotel offers trips as well. the owner advised me not to take crampons to the Annapurna Base Camp. Worse advice ever. I had to borrow ones on the way. I can not imagine how someone with that poor knowledge about conditions in the mountains can offer...
