I've never written a bad review of a place but I feel a duty to do this. Most expensive meal I've had in Nepal (usually stick to low budget places away from main tourist areas) and the only meal that got me sick. Worst food poisoning I've had in my life. Went here with a friend after a nice day paddling a boat on the lake to reward ourselves with a protein rich meal. Ordered tandoori chicken as well as chicken sausage curry because it was recommended. Tandoori chicken texture and taste were funky and seemed like it was originally cooked a while ago. (I know tandoori chicken is a dry type of food but it was especially dry and stringy/chewy with a slight strange flavor.) Chicken sausage pieces in the curry were stored in a plastic container in the front bbq area, tasted ok. Restaurant has good review score so we gave it the benefit of doubt. Owner also mentioned the high review score at the end of our meal. Friend got sick for one day, I got really sick for two days. Zero chance it was something else we ate based on timing and considering our lunch was something we ate multiple times before coming here and afterwards. Even if you happen to get fresh food here, the prices are quite far beyond comparable Indian food places in Nepal. Naan and roti were tasty. Feel like I paid a premium...
Read moreA Disappointing Experience at Taste of Punjab, Pokhara
📍 Ambiance: Taste of Punjab is tucked away inside an alley, contrasting with other Halal restaurants located on main streets. The approach road is currently under construction, adding to the inconvenience. The ambiance inside is rather basic and below average, not recommended for family outings. There was only us, no other guests!
🍽️ Recommended Food: The dining experience was underwhelming, with a noticeable lack of quality in the dishes we tried. The dam biryani appeared to be reheated, lacking flavor, and overall, tasteless. The butter chicken did not meet expectations, tasting below average, and the butter naan was unfortunately burnt. Additionally, the absence of straws for drinks further detracted from our meal experience.
✨ Overall Impression: I cannot recommend Taste of Punjab. For those seeking Halal cuisine in Pokhara, better options like Lazeez are available. This restaurant falls short in both food quality and dining environment, making it less desirable for a...
