Stay of Queenstown — Hotel in South Island

We had an incredible experience at the Stay of Queenstown and cannot recommend the accomodation more highly.

With easy check-in instructions and great communication from the hosts, we were blown away by the beautiful Heaphy Suite which was ready with fresh bread, sweet treats and fruit. It was Christmas when we travelled, so we also enjoyed the festive decor and kind holiday notes from the Stay team.

The Heaphy suite was impeccably styled with really comfortable furniture. The couch and bed were particularly fantastic. We really appreciated the thoughtful touches such as freshly cut flowers, books and the infuser with its lovely lavender scent. We stayed in the accomodation for 13 nights and found the kitchenette facilities perfect for our needs, especially with all the packed lunches we prepared for our hikes. The room was also tidied daily, which was not expected but very much appreciated.

The real winner, however, was the incredible view! We spent almost all our time in the suite sitting on the lovely balcony furniture admiring the view of the lake, the Remarkables and Cecil Peak. During Summer, the sun does not set until 9:30pm, so watching the views from this vantage point was just magic.

In addition to having delicious daily treats left for us, our hosts gave us great recommendations on what to do and see in Queenstown. We loved being located just outside the town so as to miss the craziness of the masses, but also be close enough so we were in arms reach of anything we needed or any restaurants or bars we wanted to attend.

Overall, we loved our time at the Stay of Queenstown and we can’t thank Ingrid and the Stay team enough for their thoughtfulness and for helping make our time in New Zealand so memorable. I am a discerning traveler who frequently opts for 5-star hotels. In Queenstown, where options are limited, and my longing for a lakeside view persisted, I explored accommodations near the lake. Despite fewer reviews, the high ratings intrigued me. After reading them all, I decided on the Wakatipu Suite, though most reviews focused on the Tekapo suite or other rooms, leaving me with some concerns.

However, the moment I entered the room, I was captivated by the breathtaking lakeside view. Though not large, the room was cozy, tidy, and well-equipped. The space was efficiently utilized, featuring a beautiful warm fireplace. Additionally, the daily changing soft towels and bedding enhanced the overall pleasant experience.

As frequently mentioned in other reviews, the complimentary food was fantastic, initially expected to last my entire 3-night stay. Daily bread replenishments, promptly refilled other items, and two extra Korean instant noodle bowls on the second day surprised me. (We are from Korea) While I don’t usually eat much for breakfast, I couldn’t resist overindulging each morning. Breakfast with the spectacular lake, bright sunlight, and refreshing breeze became the happiest moments of my recent days.

I confess; I’ve never left a Google review for accommodations or restaurants, but here, I felt compelled to express my love. Thanks to Ingrid for her thoughtful service, from check-in to the final checkout, and to the unnamed lady who cleaned the room, always smiling and checking if everything was okay. I truly enjoyed Queenstown and hope to visit again, undoubtedly staying here. The only concern is the competition for the Tekapo Suite if I come with three or...

We have been staying with “Stay of Queenstown” for 7 weeks during Covid-19 lockdown in New Zealand so we believe we can give a solid and detailed review 😉

First of all the apartment: Generally it’s very new and the interior is stylish & comfortable. The kitchen is perfectly equipped to cook own meals, eat & drink, a big fridge with freezer, microwave, toaster and even a Nespresso coffee machine including milk frother is also there. The bedroom is super cozy as the bed has very high quality. The bathroom is also very well equipped with a big great shower including complimentary. There is a flat TV with internet access and Netflix, Amazon Video, etc. apps and a comfortable couch. The whole apartment was perfectly clean.

The location: It is in walking distance to the Queenstown center (10 min) and a good starting point for multiple hikes and bike tours. But the best thing is the stunning lake and mountain view you have the whole day directly in front of the apartment. Just look through your windows for great sunrises and sunsets.

Hosts: Ingrid and Warren have been the best, most helpful and kindest hosts we ever had. During this special time, they gave us a warm welcome and feeling like being home. We needed to be quick to find a place to stay during lockdown so we consider ourselves super lucky that we have found this perfect place, we really had everything and more we needed. We are thankful beyond all measures.

So obviously, we 100% recommend “Stay of Queenstown” and we are sure you will have a relaxed and wonderful holiday.
