Isla Gecko — Hotel in Malay

Cheap & close to the beach. We stayed in room 204.

Nice and clean enough but located in a very unpopular alley. Have to walk past trash and on an unpaved road to get there.

There were no signs pointing to the place. Putting up some signs in the alley to direct to this hotel would help a lot, we had to ask around.

Wifi is nonexistent. Inside the rooms it didn't work at all (2nd floor) and outside in the lounge it also barely connected. Worse, the G3 data barely worked inside the rooms as well, maybe because of the hotel's location.

Staff are nice and friendly, polite and helpful. Provided extra towels and toilet paper when requested.

Towels are old and scratchy. Bed sheets were stained with blood a bit etc.

Only 2 electric outlets in the entire room, and they were falling out of the wall.

Key (only 1 per room) needs to be left with the reception when you go out.

Breakfast is below average so skip ( I had the omelette and oatmeal).

Overall decent stay for a very budget conscious traveller but don't expect...

Do not stay here! ||We arrived and before we even arrived i was abit on edge due to it being a 2*. It is down a muddy ally so be prepared for the back of your legs to get dirty. ||the staff were lovely but that is the only positive.||We was shown to our room and the first thing you smell is the damp and mould. I complained as I cannot stand the smell and all they did was go to the room and spray it with febreez and put a air freshener in the toilet and the excuse was “nobody had stayed in this room for 3 days that is why it smells”. ||After a while I decided I couldn’t take it anymore so i went to reception and asked to move rooms and they said yes and said they’re moving us to the “VIP room” it most definitely was not. ||No smell of damp this time but on the bed there was ants!!! I felt so dirty in the room I couldn’t believe it, the bathroom also had ants everywhere and it was so small, too small to even turn around in.||Overall, i would never stay here again,...
