You've been warned! Info on the accommodations were not sent until city tax paid and email sent with a copy of our passport. I should have questioned my decision to stay at Frutaria-Lisbon at that point. After spending much time reading directions to the room and entering door codes we arrived at the room. Five months before our trip l sent a deposit and requested 2 twin beds for me and my friend (not partner). We are 69 and 72 year old women so the hike up the stairs was not pleasant and we were not told the room was on the 4th floor until the city tax was paid and copies of passports submitted. Imagine my surprise when l opened the door and saw a double bed! Tried emailing, texting and calling Frutaria-Lisbon. Caroline, the virtual "customer service" person was very unpleasant, not helpful, said there were no other available rooms, and that the reservation was nonrefundable. I had to quickly find another accommodation for our 3 night stay in Lisbon. Frutaria-Lisbon gave me a difficult time with a refund although it was their fault the room was not as requested and we didn't know until arrival. Correspondence prior to arrival did not say our room was a double or ask for confirmation of the room type. While in Portugal we stayed in 5 hotels with 2 being hostels. All other accommodations provided twins as requested and we had excellent stays. This booking was a disaster. The hostel did not refund any of my deposit. DO NOT...

Read moreThe only positive thing in our experience is the location and the matras on the bed. The apartment was in a busy centre street on the 4th floor. The apartments have thin walls and wooden floors, which means that you can hear your neighbours talking or throwing up all night in our case. The bathroom is very thiny and you can't sit properly in the toilet. Towels are very small and thin. The apartments are accessible with a code, which are provided to the next guest while you are still in the apartment. Consequently we were waked up very early at 07.00 hrs because the next guest was standing in our room. This is in my eyes is unexceptable and waived with a sorry stating it never happened before. The breakfast is in a café 2 minutes from the apartment and is every day the same. Although in general Portugese people are super friendly and make you feel welcome, this was...
