Let me start with some positive feedback: The staff (not management) is friendly and I believe are trying to provide good service. The location of the property is convenient to most of Southern Denver Parking is adequate and well lit.
Don't get the wrong idea though, those are about all of the positive features of this hotel, because this is a warning not a review.
The Problems:
The elevator was out of service during my entire stay and other guests of longer term have reported that the elevator's performance has been spotty at best to non-existent over the past two months. Guests on the third floor are commonly short changed in terms of cleaning and fresh towels because the clean towels are on the first floor and housekeeping is delayed in bringing them up for service. My room upon checkin only had one towel in the entire room. Maintenance is either being deferred, not being performed or projects are beginning but not being completed, there are radiator parts in the hall ways, HVAC components are laying on the floor in guest rooms and wiring is exposed from the front of the unit in the room. The smoke detector in my first room on the third floor malfunctioned at around 1:00 AM and there was no one at the property or that could be reached capable of disabling it, repairing or otherwise taking action to stop it. The front desk attendant was actually a housekeeper (which may explain the cleanliness issues on the premises) and was not familiar with how to change rooms. The attendant attempted to contact the General Manager who did not respond during the 45-minutes I was standing in the lobby, finally I was able to get a Reservation line supervisor to walk the employee at the front desk through the process of changing rooms. This was done at my own initiative because the Property's general manager was unresponsive. I left a note at the front desk requesting that the General Manager of the property get in touch with me the next day. As of the writing of this post this has not occurred. I generally have little confidence that l will hear anything back from the General Manager as when I was checking-in to the property, I asked to speak to the General manager, who slammed the office door adjacent to the front desk so as to avoid having to converse with me. I have contacted the guest relations hotline, which is apparently woefully understaffed or the quality (or lack thereof) has led to a huge volume of calls as it took over 25 minutes to speak to a representative and my hold-time for a supervisor was longer still. Finally, while waiting for the general manager during the early morning hours, I was able to look at the staff communication manual, I was interested in a note that read: DO NOT GIVE EXTRA TOWELS TO GUESTS, EVER. This message went on to explain that they would only exchange towels. So remember this hotel is one towel per room so every time you take a shower, wash your face, your hands you'll need to walk from the third floor to the front desk to exchange your towel. Have fun!
I hope that this review serves as a warning to any one thinking of staying at this property, I would advise you stay elsewhere there are multiple hotels adjacent with comparable rates. These issues are endemic of terrible management at the hotel that neither values or supports its employees, the maintenance of its property or providing outstanding service...
Read moreWish Zero Stars was an option for this hotel. We had to book a place very last minute and having stayed at Extended Stay before we figured this would be a fine choice. Check in went ok - we drive around the side to park and can hear fighting coming from a room as soon as we park. We proceed to our room where we needed just enough time to change clothes and leave again for the event we came to town for. Bathroom door won’t close tightly or lock, fridge is completely dented up, no tv remote, no kitchen accessories at all. We leave for our event and come back around 11:30 pm. Tons of smoke smell (and even though I understand marijuana is legalized if you don’t want to smell it in the building don’t go here) and now a sign on the door saying the water will be shut off the next day for “plumbing repairs” yet we were never notified upon check-in. We go back to our room and unfold the pull out couch for our daughters to sleep on. Never been so disgusted at a mattress in my life. There’s stains on top and what appears to be mold underneath. No sheets or blankets available for the pull out bed anywhere. Decide maybe the floor is a cleaner option for the kids - how terrible is that?! But it’s now midnight and I can’t move 3 kids to another hotel. Plus we had already paid for 4 nights here and would need a refund to be able to move hotels. Went downstairs to ask for some extra sheets and blankets but the front desk worker was on the phone and oblivious. Had the phone cord strung over the desk and was sitting in the lobby next to a cooler. When my husband finally went down for blankets we were given 2 sheets and one blanket but told there were no more pillows available in the hotel for my kids to use. We had to use wadded up sheets as pillows. Air conditioning isn’t available in the bedroom at all. At 9:20 am I proceeded downstairs to get my kids “breakfast” that was supposed to be included. Dirtiest hotel breakfast bar I’ve ever seen. Things look like they haven’t been cleaned in YEARS. Dust and grime all over the racks that hold the cups/oatmeal & muffins. The final straw was 20 minutes later when Zack (apparently the management) knocks on our door and tells me that the room below us was complaining that we were “running” all over the room. Our special needs 3 year old had been playing with his toys and my daughters had walked around the room. The kids had been awake less then an hour. We immediately knew we couldn’t continue our stay, none of our family would be comfortable because apparently the room below us worked nights and planned to sleep all day which was obviously going to continue to cause problems. Normally our son could have sat quietly and worked on his tablet but the outlets in the room were so terrible it wouldn’t charge. We checked out and will never go back. We moved to The Element Hotel just down the road for $10 more a night and it’s 1000% nicer. Do yourself a favor spend a bit more to avoid this junk hole. There’s tons of nicer properties in the area!! Don’t use the pullout couch in 205...
Read moreMy sheets were dirty from the previous guest and had been turned inside out on the bed and had feces on the comforter. I had only hand towels, no full sized towels were provided when requested. The microwave had food particles from prior occupants. The diswasher was covered in sticky gunk to the point that it would barely open, but it didnt matter, as the room had none of the plates/cups advertised on the room ammenities placard. The air conditioning unit electircal wires had been cut and were hanging out of the bottom. My room had an unpleasant smell to it, but it was nothing compaired to the overwhelming stench of cat urine/meth manufacturing in the eastern stairwells of the building. The front desk manager Cameron provided hands down one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever been forced to endure. When I made him aware of the issues in my room he told me there was nothing he could do about it because housekeeping 'only comes once a week, and theyre not scheduled for your room' until after I was leaving. I tried to explain to him that housekeeping had barely done anything prior to my stay, and he still refused to fix the unclean enviroment. When inquiring as to why there was giant plastic tarps covering the hallways on all three floors, I was told about some sort of hotel inspection scheduled for the wednesday/thursday of my stay. Cameron informed me that the rooms were all to be entered and "tested". He would not say what they were being tested for. When I asked him how to opt out of this during my stay I was told there was "nothing you can do about it". This is frustrating, because after having such a miserable stay already, I had no trust in the hotel employees to be left alone with my belongings while I was not present. He did not even offer an apology for the inconvenience, but instead chose to speak in a condescending tone and act like I was somehow in the wrong for not wanting strangers in my room. I had no choice but to pack up everything and leave my things in my car during the day. Unfortunately, this reservation was set up through an employer and finding alternate accomodations was not an option (I tried every other hotel in the area, and all were completely booked). My time at this hotel was miserable, and earned the nickname 'Hotel Hell' from my group of coworkers who all had different, yet simmilar nightmare-like stays during the week we were booked at Extended Stay America. I will not be returning, and will actively encourage others not to book at this location. Our employer has been notified as well, to ensure that future employees will not have to endure a stay at...
