I expected more of Sichuan Garden Chinese Restaurant because they have been in business for over 30 years. I will start with saying the people were nice & the service was fine. This restaurant could use a temporary close down for an update, remodel & a paring down of all the extra "stuff" - why do many Asian restaurants seem to have live fish as part of their decor? Do they think people want to see swimming fish while eating their sushi or other seafood dishes? The booths seem well worn; we sat so low that we could have bent our heads right to the table to eat. The dining room itself seemed clean, although dark decor. The restrooms were another story. I went to the women's restroom & could NOT bring myself to use it; the floor was sticky & dirty, 3 of the 4 stalls were open & looked decrepit. One stall had a sign - out of order - to not use. I'm not sure how easily a handicapped person with a walker or wheelchair could navigate the restroom or the main restaurant entrance. The front door entrance is tight, with a tiny little vestibule that serves as a weather break before the main door. It was hard for us fairly able-bodied adults. The food might make me return but with different soup & different entrees for sure. The wonton soup had no Asian flavor like the many dozens of wonton soups from different places I've had. It tasted like plain chicken broth with no umami & a single wonton noodle dropped in. No green onions on top. The crispy noodles served with the soup were excellent though. The appetizers of egg roll & crab Rangoon were also excellent. I can't say that I tasted any crab in the Rangoon, but it had a wonderful slightly smokey flavor that seemed like pork. The entrees were overly salty & that came back on us later. We had cashew chicken, which was okay, but the mushrooms added in were cold & not cooked at all. The Mongolian Beef was also okay but too saucy & salty. This was all the dinner menu which is a little pricier than your usual Chinese food establishment. I may give them another try, but it would be for the lunch menu. The Crab Rangoon is what would...
Read more9/26/2024 We went to Sichuan Garden Chinese Restaurant for Dinner and to buy a gift certificate for a family member. We’ve been going to this restaurant with our daughter for 22 years, but the first time we’ve gone by ourselves for a long time. One of the owners met us inside the door and took us to our seat. The decor is beautiful! I couldn’t get pictures of all of the beauty because people were sitting all around and I didn’t want to invade their privacy. The Chinese Robe (Quipao- a woman’s robe) that’s hung on the large window display in the front dining room is my favorite. We looked over the menu and ordered Vegetable Egg Rolls off the Appetizer Menu. (Really a nice price for of $3.95 for 4 Egg Rolls.) My favorite choice for my dinner was Beef & Broccoli with Water Chestnuts in Brown Sauce. My husband wanted to try the Moo Goo Gai Pan, he hadn’t had it for a while. We both chose Fried Rice and we only had to wait a short time to get the Egg Rolls and as we were stopping with those, our server brought our meals. They were both so delicious and large portions. After we finished eating she asked me if I needed a box and she dished up my leftovers. They brought out our Fourtune Cookies and told us goodbye and to come back. We had such a wonderful time. We want to go back to Sichuan Garden Chinese Restaurant again and my husband is already thinking about what he wants...
Read moreThe staff was very nice and attentive, but the food is simply overpriced and just not great compared to the majority of other Chinese restaurants I’ve tried. Pretty small portions for the price. For example, got 2 egg rolls that were just alright. Nothing special, small, and $3.69 each. Reminded me of something I could purchase in bulk in Costco freezer section, unfortunately. Pork Wontons were not good at all, and were one-bite-sized. General Tso chicken was good, but about $4 overpriced for the amount of chicken you get and the “fried rice” on the side was terribly bland and literally just rice tossed in a pan with a hint of soy sauce. Now, the large beef fried rice with ingredients more than just the rice was actually pretty good, but still lacked flavor compared to other fried rice dishes I’ve had. It was $15.99, plus I added green onions for another $1.00. The portion was, again, smaller than other places and lacked any real flavor to it. I had initially requested pork fried rice but was told they don’t offer it! That was a new one for me, considering they have pork and fried rice but hey, I didn’t want to argue. I wish I could report a better experience because the staff was very nice. So that is why 2 stars instead of 1. Maybe I caught them on a bad night? Not sure but the restaurant was empty on a Saturday night, so I’m thinking other people may feel...
