I don’t know about you, but whenever I go on a trip with friends, there is always that one guy that can’t seem to get his act together and creates headaches for everyone involved. It is not always the same guy, and it is never for the same reasons, but it is almost guaranteed that one of your friends will be “That Guy” on any given trip.
Well, last week, a small group of friends and I traveled to Louisville KT to tour the famous Kentucky Bourbon Trail… and this time, it was my turn to be “That Guy”.
We had set this trip up months in advance, and we each had one job. My one job was to book the Distillery Tours for our group over a 3-day span. Now I am not usually “That Guy,” but this time life got in the way, and honestly, I had no idea how far in advance I needed to book tours with some of these places. (You need to start booking eight to twelve weeks ahead of time, in case you are reading this in advance of planning your own distillery tour.) Fast forward… it is only two weeks before we are scheduled to leave, and I finally start to look up the different distilleries that I know we want to visit so I can book the tours and schedule the tastings. Imagine my surprise to find every possible date grayed out at every distillery I looked up!
The Air Fare, the Rooms, the Rental Cars, everything is booked, and everyone is excited to relax and enjoy some great bourbons with good friends over a long weekend. Except now, thanks to me, we have nowhere to go when we get there! Everyone, please say hello to “That Guy”.
Enter Melisa and TourKentuckyBourbon.com. After failing miserably to book tours on my own, I quickly shifted to the tour companies that specialize in organizing distillery tours in the hopes of leveraging their contacts to create an itinerary that could possibly pull my bacon out of the fire. After calling half a dozen tour groups, it was only Melisa and TourKentuckyBourbon .com that took the time to work with me and saved me from being “That Guy”.
Melisa worked hard with me via phone and email, and over the next three days, we were able to craft an entire weekend of tours that far exceeded anything I could have arranged on my own. The whole experience, from the customer service, the quality of the transportation, the professionalism of the driver, and the itinerary of excellent tours, was all we could have hoped for.
My sincere thanks to Melisa and TourKentuckyBourbon.com for saving me from being “That...
Read moreIf I could make my review zero stars, I would. I booked a limo for my husband’s birthday at 10 am to take us to a bourbon tasting and a lunch in Bardstown , KY. I received a confirmation email on the day of the booking and a reminder email the day prior to the trip. I paid 50% on the day of the booking. At ten am the day of the trip, the car did not show up. I had guests at my house that were joining us. I was so embarrassed that the car did not show up.
I called to inquire . The person over the phone was clueless. Not only he did not know where the car was, he could not tell me for over 20 minutes if we could get a car. We were on a tight timeline due to our bourbon tasting time. Finally , one hour later a bus shows up. I had paid for a limousine with circular seating, not for a bus. They had snacks in a messy box . The seats were extremely uncomfortable and did not recline. The bus was very loud and it was not conducive to conversation or to having a good time. The company did not skip a beat to charge me the second 50% on the day of the trip. I called multiple times asking for compensation for the one hour delay and for not getting the car we paid for and could never talk to anyone past the front person. I have never written a review but this interaction was beyond catastrophic. I would never recommend this company and I don’t want someone else to make the same mistake I did. Trip was on...
Read moreI gave 2 stars because we did receive a partial refund but the ENTIRE day was a disaster. The driver was late picking us up, on the way to the 1st distillery, he ran over at least 5 things, little did we know, he blew out a tire but didn’t tell us. We waited an hour for him to arrive back at the distillery only for him to tell us there was a flat and they were sending a sprinter van - we had booked a limo. The drivers were arguing in front of us, we missed our 2nd stop, he suggested we eat in the sprinter van - there were 10 of us, we said absolutely not. He started running out of gas, his card was declined, he took us to another gas station to try again… this went on all day. I could go on and on about how unprofessional the day was. It was my 40th birthday and honestly, this day just sucked. Would not recommend trusting this company if something goes wrong bc they don’t have contingency...
