Please be smarter than we were. We visit Leavenworth once a year, sometimes more, and thought we’d give this place a try because it looked cute from the road and has a great location. I did not research carefully and did not realize there were already negative reviews about this establishment on TripAdvisor. Had I read them, we would have made a very different choice. So this is really a cautionary tale!||We were greeted in a friendly manner and provided with a corkscrew because we had forgotten ours. The rooms are very dated. Our room was visibly clean; however, there was a definite smell of mildew/mildew cleaner in the air. The floors are uneven. We also discovered that the plumbing fixtures were very loose and about to fall off. Water pressure dropped significantly in the morning so we were very glad that we showered early. We were awakened at midnight by the sound of the alarm clock going off in the room next door. Apparently no one was staying in that room as there was no car in front and the alarm continued to go off. I called the number listed in the guest resources and received the fax tone in my ear. I hopped online and used the number listed on their website. That didn’t work either as the phone rang and rang and I wasn’t able to leave a message. I got up and walked across the parking lot to check the emergency numbers listed on the doors. I called the first number and had to leave a voice message. I called the second number and heard an automatic message saying the number had not been activated and so no message could be left. We put pillows over our heads since the office wasn’t staffed at that hour and toughed it out.||In the morning I addressed this issue with the clerk and he brushed me off, saying someone must have messed up. We expressed our frustration with not being able to get assistance and that was brushed off as well as an unfortunate incident. The hotel claims to have a hot breakfast. When we arrived we were told the breakfast area was being remodeled and there would only be oatmeal and local pastries. When we went to grab a pastry in the morning, it was apparent there was no construction taking place and there were also no pastries. I pointed this out and was informed that they already all been eaten. This was at 8:30 and breakfast is supposed to be provided until 10 o’clock. We don’t think there was anyone else staying at the motel so we’re wondering who ate the pastries.||Had I not been on a business outing (and not wanting to deal with the paperwork headaches) we would have packed up at midnight and gone down the road for a...
Read moreThe room was comfortable enough and updated, though small. Like another review, I found it deceptive that the website boasts “no hidden fees like other paces charge”, but when it’s time to book on like, there is an added $30 cleaning fee and tax of course. A $79 room actually cost $117. | The biggest complaint was lack of communication and misinformation. I called the 1-509 number the day before my arrival , and was told that I would receive an email by 6 AM on the day of my arrival telling me the code to unlock the door ( check-in starting at 4 PM). |And the website and voice mails state that there is an office open until 4 pm Monday - Friday. |I arrived in Leavenworth about 11 AM and There was never any email. There is NO office. I spent valuable time tracking down a housekeeper and a handyman who made calls but no one answered. Both of them were helpful, but I did not know if I would have a bed for the night. Finally, at check-in time |( 4 pm), the handyman met us, showed us how to put in a code to get in and out of the room. I learned later that A TEXT had bern sent to me from “ the office” but I had been told only to check my email. People at the Information/Visitor Center across the street at least assured me that the Evergreen Inn is indeed a real business, and a worker at the UPS store in back of the Evergreen Inn told me they get visitors in regularly looking for the motel “Office” That doesn’t exist. She told me to look for the handyman across the street at the Wanderlust Motel, which was good advice, but no way for the Evergreen to run a business. | Lesson learned: Watch for a text, even if you are told to expect an email. And don’t look for the office, there is none. |P. S. The place was clean and comfortable. The pictures on the wall gave the feel of being on vacation, but I felt I needed a vacation from all the hassle caused by misinformation and lack of...
Read moreUpdate: We no longer will be going to the Evergreen Inn. It really is a sad but the new ownership unfortunately left a very sour taste. A email was sent only a couple of weeks before our annual Oktoberfest trip stating the hotel was under new management, that they were switching to a air bnb style reservations and that we would need to pay for our room in full within 24 hours or the reservations would be canceled. We wrote back a email congratulating the new owners on acquiring such a great place and asked for an invoice for our three rooms for Oktoberfest weekend. We recievd a very snarky email stating we had one room not three and that the rate for the weekend had increased with no invoice or explanation of how much the increase would be. We found it odd since Oktoberfest had been canceled due to covid that the new owner would increase the amount ontop of what we were already paying for a "festival weekend" even tho the festival was canceled. We felt that it was a very clear message that the new owner felt they could sell the room to someone else for more than we were going to pay and that they really didn't want our business. I am leaving the 5 star review only to be fair since we have not gone back to see if there are any improvements to merit the increase in price. I truly wish the new owners the best of luck with this property. unfortunately this just seems to be indicative of the direction that the entire town is going.
Not fancy, but certainly a great place to stay. The staff is very helpful, nice and will hold a good conversation with you if that's what you want. Found some of Leavenworths hidden gems thanks to the staff there. The breakfast there isn't huge but has everything you could want or need. This was our 10th year staying at the Evergreen for Oktoberfest and countless other random stays over the last 10 years and won't stop...
