Not often I leave a review before actually staying somewhere but I have been hung up on about a dozen times by whomever handles the check-in process. My wife was supposed to receive an email this morning and it’s 1pm and she hasn’t. We called the number they have on the wall and it went straight to some hold music. I waited for my wife to be on for about 2 minutes and then I decided to call the 800 # listed w Google. I SPOKE TO SOMEONE… told her my wife’s name, that we were trying to check in and that she didn’t get the email. The woman said, “ok, let me check on that. Ok bye,” and HUNG UP! I called back, thinking maybe it was a dropped call but then the phone was answered by… someone… and then they either put me directly on hold or hung up on me.
We know we’re early and may not even be able to check in until later but this service is ATROCIOUS! Wish us luck that we actually get through to someone and can actually stay here. 🤞🏼I’ll update this review once we’ve actually gotten into our room… if we actually get into it. 🤦🏻
Update: 4 hours later — about 15-20min after my initial review, my wife finally got an email from someone w our check in info. I should also mention, the landline they have at the front does NOT work. Hitting the 7, at any point besides when it’s supposed to be dialed, does not work. So, we went to the lockbox and drumroll the code they gave us was the code already on the lockbox so that seems super secure.
We went to our room, it’s cute. We had to leave and instead of taking our stuff to the room before we left for an event, we opted to leave it in my car bcs that felt more secure than this place. The AC is great. We don’t have a bathroom but my wife could have very well missed that so I won’t ding for that.
Now that we’re back and relaxing we notice that the door doesn’t actually close unless it’s deadbolted. Not a deal breaker. It’s an ancient building and reuse stores probs aren’t readily available in the area to get replacements parts for this old latching system, which I’ve never seen before. The TV is mounted near the ceiling, which is a strange decorative choice. Now that we’re here… it’s not terrible. We like the little patio and seriously, the AC is A+, as is being next to Bear Bear. The check in situation was still so horrible that the quality of the room only helps my score by 1 star.
I should note - my wife, who booked this, is the Director of Hospitality and Customer Experience for one of the local wineries and we come here frequently. Her standards are high but we also know we’re paying for what we get, to some extent. We know we’re not staying at The Post but it’s not hard to answer a phone and say, “oh em gee… so sorry you didn’t get that. Let me open that system and send you the email you should’ve received. You should have it in the next 10-20 min, vs HANGING UP ON US!
If we’re haunted in the middle of the night (this IS the oldest building in Leavenworth), I’ll increase the stars,...
Read moreI’ll preface this by saying my review is based on my expectations of the place from the research I did prior to booking.
I knew this place didn’t have the greatest reviews, however, we weren’t planning on spending too much time in our room and we were more concerned with free assigned parking (✅), central location to downtown (✅), and AC (✅). We noticed in previous reviews and from descriptions of rooms that there are shared bathrooms so we made extra sure our room had its own bathroom.
The place it’s self was beyond expectations! It was very cozy and homey and the building has a ton of history in Leavenworth so it was really cool seeing the old photos on the wall. I absolutely loved the self check in. They emailed very detailed instructions, codes for the room key and it was super easy to find our room.
The downstairs lobby is cute. It has a little picnic table to sit and enjoy coffee. The upstairs lobby has games, a mini fridge, and extra room supplies.
Our room was absolutely adorable. It had a few flaws, mostly just that the mattress was super stiff (for our liking anyway), and there were cob webs on the window sills and light fixtures. We would have liked to have the curtains open for some natural sun light but we didn’t want to look at cob webs. Our room had an AC unit as well which kept the room nice and cool.
Small TV with Netflix. And the remote now has fresh new batteries (you’re welcome)
Based on the parking the lodge looked pretty booked up for the weekend but it was very quiet and peaceful and we barely saw any other guests...
Read moreWe got the Deluxe Queen room during a 3 night stay. It has a private bathroom and a small kitchen area with a microwave and mini fridge. Our room was very clean, and cozy. There was room specific parking in the alley behind the building with an entrance from there as well. We had a small shared balcony area with chairs and a table. The AC kept the room nice and cool too.
The parking in Leavenworth is a NIGHTMARE, as is just driving around the downtown area where everyone will want to be. Staying here where you can walk to everything you want to do is the best ‘perk.’ The reasonable price is also great. There is no front desk, no reception, nothing. You get an email with check in instructions and do it yourself. It’s actually quite nice.
The building is one of the original structures and has a history of being the boarding house so there are many cool pictures and vintage bits and bops around which heighten the atmosphere. To go along with being a boarding house though, some rooms share a bathroom. So if you need your own bathroom make sure to check but the shared bathroom is very nice and centrally located.
The only things I did not enjoy was the mattress, which was much too firm for a side sleeper like myself. And our bathroom did not have a functioning fan, so you can fill in the blanks on how that impacts your trip.
Otherwise it was a cheap, cozy, no fuss experience that eliminated the primary issue that would’ve negatively impacted our stay in Leavenworth (the parking). I recommend Mrs....
