We book at the Hyatt everytime we travel. I love the Hyatt. Unfortunately I had a not so friendly experience. The beautiful lady that worked the front check in desk on 6/29/2025 I think her name was robins was very rude, and had an attitude which makes you want to take your money else where. We had just traveled 7 hours from Va. to attend my grandmothers funeral. We had early check in which we booked online and called because we wanted to have to time to prepare for a 4 pm service. When I told we have early check in she immediately gave me attitude as tho I was not telling the truth. She asked me and how is that, I told her I booked online she said well did you call. I told herI booked online and called to verify. With even more attitude she ask my name I told her my husband name because our Hyatt points Is under his account. She said I don’t see him is he hear. I told her I’ve booked with Hyatt for years he makes the reservation for me I’ve never had a problem. She told me I couldn’t check in.i told her I’ve never had a problem b4 . She nastily says well you never booked at this Hyatt. Remind you I’m here for my grandma furneral. If the policy changes ok I’m ok with that just say the respectfully because it’s clear I was her elder, that things have changed. So she said call him. I called him while he was in church and she didn’t want to talk to him. SMH she started to pull up the account and then says I don’t need to talk to him just give me your credit card. Really. What the heck is going on with customer service. I was so upset. I started to get out of character but I realize she wasn’t worth it. They my daughter and I got a room that the tub was backed up. The lady that checked us out gave us points but I’d much rather have...
Read moreAverage at best. If you can get a room at the historic district, then do that. This hotel is really far out and away from most things and since Charleston is so crowded and traffic is always an issue, do yourself a favor and pass on this one. Not gonna list all their "amenities" since you can read the list yourself.
What I didn't like and the reasons why the lower grade: The noise is an issue. The noise from across the street and the street itself. There is construction going on right across the street so you got that. You can hear traffic on the street til after midnight. People revving engines and motorcycles..the noise is crazy. The bed was hard as a rock. If you are with someone and they move a muscle, you will feel it. In fact between the noise and the bed I got 2hrs sleep. The "free breakfast" is mediocre and not worth bothering with. If you are trying to save money it will suffice, especially with kids but I mean this is Charleston, everything is expensive. **One last thing which was really annoying and weird but I have to include it because it really pissed me off. So we checked in early and brought our stuff into the room. We have to have the temperature cool to us so we can sleep. So I adjusted it down so it would be right by the time we got back. When we got back I realized it had been messed with because it was not hot outside and I had closed all curtains and blinds but the temperature was almost 10 degrees higher than it was when we got there. 😤...Had to wait for it to go back down before we could sleep. When if it had been left alone, it would've been fine. We left the hotel about 1:30 pm and didn't get back til almost 9pm. I'm paying for the room, that includes the air...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed here for 2 nights in February 2020. We are senior citizens and tourists. We like the hotel and we recommend it. We paid just under $125 per night including taxes, and it is a great value because the room is very large and the free breakfast is excellent. The building looks shiny and new, inside and out. The lobby is not real big, but looks good, and next to the lobby there is a bar with alcoholic drinks that was open and operating during our stay. The breakfast space includes 3 rooms including the main lobby area, so the breakfast seating is spread out and spacious. Breakfast food is good. The oatmeal and grits were good. Each morning there were eggs, meats, waffles, especially good breads, a fast toaster, and fresh fruit. The hotel has an indoor pool but no hot tub. Our room was very large, with semi-separate living room with wraparound sofa and desk. I can't remember if I paid more for a larger room, or not. I think I just reserved a room with 2 queen beds. Anyway, the room was great with fridge, coffee and a bathroom that uses first-class finishes and fixtures. It's basically a suite for $125 per night. We did encounter some problems: in the room the blackout blinds were very difficult to operate and prone to damage, and we needed help from the staff with the blinds. We did not like the beds (too saggy) or the pillows, causing my wife to sleep poorly and causing me to develop some back pain. The door to the room did not close and lock reliably on its own. And a note to breakfast staff at these hotels: scrambled eggs in a crock pot are not good! (taste is bland and watery). Overall we were impressed by this hotel and we are...
