This was a last minute mother daughter getaway to the Neptune. We understood it was an Inn and the price was right at $280 a night for on the beach but we were not ready for one of the beds to have been urinated on by the previous guests! We addressed this issue with the older desk host and she told us there were no other beds to switch it out for and no other rooms. She told us we could have a room change the next day and gave us extra linens to put over the urinated bed! This seems a bit crazy right! How does someone urinate on a bed and not report to the staff, and even then how do the cleaning people re dress the bed and not smell it! We stripped the bed and placed in the hall. We were incredibly lucky to have an air mattress in the car that my daughter was going to sleep on. So $280 for our first night on an air mattress! |The next morning we came to the desk to speak with a male host about the room change and he responded by saying yes we could change rooms but there would be an upcharge or we could leave!!!| We asked if he was kidding and proceeded to clarify that we needed the room change due to the urinated mattress and not due to our choice!! He changed his mind and said he would charge us the same amount $280. We were beginning to feel this Inn has no idea how to treat guest!|At dinner that night we discovered they charged us an additional $336! We returned from dinner to discuss our additional charge with the night host. They apologized and said they believed it was a mistake by the day host and it would be refunded. We decided it was time we would need some sort of manager to discuss these issues with! They said they would leave a message for the owner (a man) to contact us. After leaving the Inn it took 2 follow up calls for a woman manager (not the man owner we were told we contact us) called and essentially suggested we made the whole thing up!! And told us the staff did not smell anything!! And they felt how they handled the situation was appropriate!! |This whole situation is so crazy! It is just bizarre how this Inn handled this situation from the second we reported on he urinated bed! Do you think maybe the night staff or day staff should have come to our room and addressed the urine situation to begin with instead of handing us extra linens!!|This Inn needs management that can address issues appropriately!|All in all we are just sad! We loved the idea of the Neptune but just can’t get over this...
Read moreThis was one of the most enjoyable places I’ve ever stayed! 10/10 can’t wait to go back!
The views: incredible, especially at sunrise. The room we stayed in, (sundown rooms ending in 7, might’ve been 207), had a sliding door that opened up to a shared balcony that is literally right over the sand. My jaw literally dropped when I saw the sunrise on the first morning. One of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. Easy access to the beach too, if you want to walk it for sunrise!
The rooms: nice, clean, and comfortable! Ours had a modern and clean bathroom with a big shower. Cozy beds, no issues!
The area: the town of Ogunquit is walking distance from the rooms. The town is full of delicious restaurants, charming shops, etc. My grandpa said there are no chain-restaurants allowed in the town, and I didn’t see any. We had Robert’s seafood one night, super good. Roberto’s pizza another night, AMAZING, and very friendly staff. The town is SUPER WALKABLE. Where I’m from, no one ever walks anywhere, so it was a nice change. I’m usually very cautious and can get paranoid about safety. I never felt unsafe, the rooms and the town, especially with people walking around everywhere, felt very safe.
The weather: We went the 3rd week of October this year, weather was perfect, the ocean breeze was so cool and beautiful in the morning. Temps got to around 70 in the afternoons.
Overall experience: would definitely recommend and stay here...
Read moreHorrible experience at this Inn tonight. I had a long day of work commitments and was late meeting my boyfriend and his five year old son at the hotel. He had gotten a two queen bed room for $200. I got there around 8:00 and asked the woman at the front for a parking permit. She said it would be $10. No problem, I could understand that. Then she asked if I'd be spending the night as well. Well yes, I said. In that case she needed $37.50. I explained my boyfriend had already paid for the room and that it was only the two of us and small child. She said the room only includes 2 people and that anyone over the age of 3 is considered a person. I have never heard of a hotel operation like that in my life. The room was out-dated and honestly nothing nice about it whatsoever aside from the view. Gross old linoleum in the bathroom and grungy bedding. I couldn't even justify giving her almost an extra $40 so I opted to turn around and drive over an hour back home tonight rather than give that establishment another dime. I don't know how they stay in business operating that way but I really hope that...
