Arrived, checked in, went to our room to find our room smelled of mildew, and there was someone’s hair sitting on the surface of the bathtub like it had not even been wiped down. Went to the front desk and were immediately given a second room. Went to check out the second room, same smell, if not worse than the first one. Went back to the office and were given a 3rd room. Went to check out this room to find the floor was dirty with some type of sticky black stuff on it, candy or who knows what, and there was a hair sitting on top of the freshly made bed. Went back to the office and decided I would rather deal with a hair in the shower than someone’s hair on the “clean” bed. This was our first time staying here. The breakfast was fine but we were not offered anything as far as the mess of running around for an hour trying to “find” our best chance at a decent room worth what we paid. However we were still disappointed. In the room we decided to keep, there were oily smears on the couch and the headrest of the bed, thank god I brought Lysol wipes, I was able to spend almost an hour scrubbing the bathtub and other surfaces just to get peace of mind I was touching something possibly clean. Wish I could have had a better experience during our stay, such a shame.
*editing to reply to owners comment: I did take the issues to the desk as soon as I arrived after my 9 hour drive, if I was offered to have my room cleaned, how am I supposed to trust it would be cleaned properly considering the 2 other rooms that were “available” were dirtier than the one I had to start with? I would rather deal with a hair in the shower than a hair on the “clean” bed. I ended up spending an hour of my time after my long drive cleaning my own room since I could not trust your staff to do so. Previous reviews talk about how dirty the floors are and that issue has definitely not been addressed. The floors were disgusting. Do better. Probably should update the tvs also. Trying to watch tv is difficult when you can barely see what’s going on because the screen...
Read moreOverall a good stay after some initial setbacks. Arrival: Upon arrival we were checked into rooms on the second floor that were not well cleaned.. dingy AC controls smeared with black, floors that made my sons feet black in less than a minute, hairs on the sheets, something weird smudged/splashed on the headboards of two of the beds and a really funky smell in the rooms we got that were adjoining. Fixing The Situation: I walked down to the front office and without being rude or confrontational I simply let them know the issues we had and asked if they could send someone in to fix them. They seemed immediately concerned and offered to swap us to another set of rooms. We swapped rooms and it was a night and day difference in how clean the rooms on the third floor were.. there was no weird smells, no dirty AC controls, clean sheets and clean floors! Pool: The pool was so fun! It was my daughters birthday and she and her brother had a blast on the slides with other kids at the hotel. The only complaint was they said their eyes were burning from the fumes after a while. Breakfast: The breakfast was actually very good. Hot things were kept hot and cold things were cold. The coffee was pretty decent for hotel coffee. They had the typical re-hydrated eggs, sausage, gravy (was pretty watered down but still ok), biscuits, donuts, toast, bagels, cereal, juice, milk, oatmeal and a pancake machine that was fun to watch. Location: FANTASTIC! You have a Walgreens on the corner a 2 min walk away, several putt putt golf places, restaurants, shops and The Island is within walking distance probably a 5-10 min walk depending on your pace. It's also maybe 8 mins to Dollywood by car from here without...
Read moreI recently stayed at Willow Lodge Hotel in Tennessee and had a deeply unsettling experience on my first night. Around 1:30 AM, I was awakened by someone attempting to enter my room with a key card. After a few failed attempts, they left, and I assumed it was simply someone with the wrong room.||However, just ten minutes later, I was awakened again, this time to the sound of the door opening. Thankfully, I had the latch lock in place, preventing the intruder from fully entering the room. I jumped out of bed and yelled to stop them. I was confronted by a man who appeared equally frightened and apologized profusely, explaining that the front desk had assigned him this room.||Imagine my terror at having someone try to enter my room in the middle of the night. I immediately spoke to the manager, who offered a weak excuse, citing a system error and a mistake by the morning employee in not marking the room as occupied. The manager also mentioned that the night employee failed to double-check the access code before issuing a new key card.||This incident highlights a severe lack of training and security at the hotel. The only attempts to rectify the situation were offering me a change of keys and a room switch, which I could not do as I was traveling with my 80-year-old grandparents in the adjacent room and needed to ensure their safety. The manager also provided a discount card for a future stay, but this does not compensate for the breach of security and the fear I experienced.||I will not be staying at Willow Lodge Hotel again. One thing you cannot compromise on is security, and this hotel failed miserably in...
