My son ordered a Nintendo 3DS online. Unfortunately, it was a Japanese import, took over a month to arrive, and all of the gaming text/information was in Japanese. My son was both disappointed and distraught. He told me there were places where we could trade in his import and, for a little more, get one in English. My son contacted GameStop and was told that they only had 2DSs on hand. They did, however, recommend that we try Planet Fun. It is located in downtown Savannah, so I was immediately annoyed. Downtown is so congested and tourist-y. You can NEVER find a convenient place to park, so you have to wear comfortable walking shoes when you head in that direction. We went to Planet Fun several days later and as per the norm, could not find a parking spot. Because they were about to close in half an hour, I parked illegally (shhhh...our little secret). I was UNPREPARED for what I was about to see and experience! I am 52-years-old which means I grew up in the 1970s and 80s. Most people don't know it but I am TOTALLY a Star Trek-Star Wars-Marvel Comics-DC Comics- all around sci-fi NERD!!! Planet Fun was AWESOME! They had ALL kinds of nerdy memorabilia, retro video games (like Pac Man and Ms. Pac man games slightly smaller than the 80s arcade versions), life size characters (like a formidable Darth Vader that I talked myself out of purchasing), cool comic collectible cards from the 80s and 90s (made of plastic to be more durable), and many other AMAZING hidden gems! My son did not get as much for the trade-in as he was hoping for (he paid $150 for the import) and still had to pay nearly $100 to get the English version that was priced at only $140. That kind of sucked, but the guy at the counter was very patient with us as we asked questions about trading practices and other concerns. Even though the store was closing, he never rushed us or made us feel anxious. I wish I had snapped pictures inside of this wondrous place, but I will DEFINITELY go back to buy some stuff (and snap pictures way before closing time LOL). I would have given Planet Fun 5 stars instead of 4, but I thought the trade-in amount was meager. We should have just bought the $140 English version and auctioned off the Japanese version online. If you are all sci-fi and nerdy like me, for sure check out Planet...
Read moreI LOVE this place. Been a loyal customer since I stumbled across it about 4 years ago. The staff is SUPER friendly.
If you've never been here, prepare to take a time traveling trip back to your childhood and all it's glory. They buy and sell anything fun. Whether it's trading cards to game consoles, or something related to pop culture or is considered retro, John will probably be interested so long as it's fun.
People complain about the prices, but keep in mind that this is an independent business and the stuff you're eyeing is probably no longer being produced, so, yes, it's pricey because it's uncommon or worth more.
This place's inventory is always changing - which is why I try to frequent this place as much as possible. You never know what you'll find! One of my favorite items - that's no longer there - was this hair dryer that looked like a revolver pistol. It was awesome!
If you're in the market for some old school consoles and games - guarantee this place will have it. Their comic selection is constantly growing and it doesn't seem like it's going to stop. There is a plethora of Magic, Yu-gi-oh, and Pokemon cards to dig through.
Not only is this place a gem when it comes to buying and trading, but they also support local artists. Also, this place is dog friendly with doggy treats at the...
Read moreOh man! Where do I begin...This place was awesome! I mean after unknowingly walking into an autograph signing from one of the original Powerangers, Jason, the red ranger, and so cute! Yes, I am a 90's baby. Also a Powerangers fan so the event took me back to my childhood. This store was packed, not only with fans for that show, but fans of comics, video games, PokĂ©mon, Magic, so much animation memorabilia. A friend of mine and I had never been and heard they purchased PokĂ©mon cards and I wanted to get an idea of what my collection would go for and they were so cool and knowledgeable about everything. We even sold a couple cards and I found a couple games for my psp. Surprisingly they are pet friendly and I could tell they were on a first name basis with some of the customers, but this guy came in with his pet parrot đŠ and my friend even got to hold him. I honestly had to be dragged outta the store. I could've stayed for hours. Had so much fun and cannot wait to go back! Nothing but great stuff coming from this store and last thing, the location couldn't be a better spot. Maybe not for parking but if your walking down Broughton Street then I highly recommend stopping by and checking out this store. Especially if your a...
