Overall, it is a nice property with great potential that is being wasted by poor execution at several levels.||||At the room level things aren’t that bad. Just some mostly minor things. The programable thermostats seem to have a ghost in the machine. They switch to certain levels at random times that are nowhere on the programming list. The large walk-in closet in the bedroom had no light source. Dangerous and annoying. The nightstands are two small and unstable to support the medical equipment (CPAP, etc.) used by a great many people in the hotels target demographic. No one wants to risk thousands of dollars of medical gear that they require to avoid stopping breathing during sleep on a wobbly nightstand. Having the tv blocked by the bedroom door is annoying, but not hard to work around. All the doors in fact block something whether it is other doors, closets, or TVs. There is also no trash disposal on the floors. Only smallish trash cans in the kitchen and bathroom.||||The rabid elephant in the hotel is the valet system. The hotel is valet only for parking and there is no self-park option of any kind. That being said, the valet system is broken, ineffective, and not available 24 hours. The app provided to access valet service only works the very first time. It is non-functional after that. I was told by the valet manager that it only behaves that way for people who use the code from the hotel rather than pay full price for the service. To be clear the code from the hotel in lieu of payment is because the cost is bundled in the hotel rate. Maybe Marriott should bring the valet team back in house instead of outsourcing. The first morning of our stay we waited in vain for our car along with two other guests. No valet in sight. Eventually my spouse notified the on-duty manager who texted a valet who eventually came running and started fetching cars. By herself. Only one valet on duty. Which of course forced the valet stand to be abandoned when she went to shag cars. We were all late for pre-paid tours and excursions. Only once during the whole stay was there more than one valet on duty that we could see, and that was while a grand opening party was going on for the hotel. Valet was a problem for the entire stay. Even on the last day, when we needed our car before five am in order to get to the airport in time to catch out flight home. We had to accompany a valet to the parking garage the night before to ‘see’ where it would be parked and retain our keys since valet service doesn’t open until eight am. The manager said to have the valet park it in front of the valet stand and bring him the keys, but the valet manager refused to do this citing city codes. It should be noted that there were no fewer than six vehicles parked in that area come 04:45 the next morning despite his claiming it was a tow zone. Some communication needs to be ironed out there. The area where valet drop-off and pick up was located was a continuous public safety hazard the entire time we were there. The small space means the only way to safely run valet from there seems to be to have 3-5 valets at all times so no car is blocking the thoroughfare for more than the time to load or unload. But that is not what was done. We were promised the valet charges would be removed from our bill, but that didn’t happen. My spouse even tells me that we were overcharged on top of all of that. There really is no excuse for any of that. That was another annoying commonality of the stay. Every person talked with about an issue provided a different answer. Literally every single person had a different answer than every other person.||||This hotel has great potential but for now, it is nothing but a stain on the Marriott brand and a public safety hazard on Ann street. The staff are mostly excellent, though the different groups refuse to...

Read moreThe ANN Savannah by Marriott is still my favorite hotel in Savannah, and I would absolutely recommend it—though there are a few things I feel are worth mentioning for future guests and management to consider.
Let’s start with the positives, which are many. The interior design is stunning. Every corner of the hotel reflects a sense of taste, effort, investment, and love. Everything is new, thoughtfully chosen, and truly beautiful. You can feel that the space was designed with the guest in mind—from the textures to the lighting to the overall atmosphere. It’s one of those hotels where you genuinely want to spend most of your time inside, not just sleep there.
The kitchen area in the room is a big plus—modern, functional, and well-equipped. However, I found myself wishing there had been a smaller pot available. I wanted to boil an egg, but there was only a large pot, which made a 5-minute task turn into a 20-minute production. It’s a small detail, but one that could improve the stay for guests who prefer to prepare their own meals.
The courtyard is a hidden gem. I stumbled upon it by accident and was pleasantly surprised to find tables, a grill, and a quiet space where guests can enjoy a meal outdoors. From what I understood, guests are welcome to bring their own food and make use of the grill, which is such a lovely and unique feature.
The service was another high point. The manager regularly checked in to make sure everything was going well, and that level of attention made me feel truly valued as a guest. It’s rare and very much appreciated.
Now, onto a few things that didn’t meet expectations.
First, the laundry facilities. The dryers were extremely inefficient. I had to run my clothes through three full cycles, each over an hour long, and they were still damp. I wasn’t drying a large load, so it felt like a frustrating waste of time and energy.
Second, the pool situation was disappointing. I didn’t realize that the pool is located in a separate building, which already makes it less convenient. When I initially booked, I asked whether pool towels were provided, and was told yes—but when I got there, not only was there no clear signage on how to enter or where to go, but I also had to walk back to the hotel to get the towels, which turned out to be standard bath towels, not large beach-style ones. That’s a letdown if you were hoping for a relaxing poolside moment.
The pool itself is very small, so if you’re someone looking to swim or stretch out and relax, just be aware of the size. More frustrating was the condition of the lounge chair mattresses—they were damp and visibly dirty, which I honestly find unacceptable in a hotel of this caliber. Add to that the lack of clear instructions on how to access the pool area with your key card, and the entire experience ended up feeling like a hassle rather than a luxury. I ended up turning around and going back to my room.
Despite these downsides, I still truly believe this is one of the best places to stay in Savannah, especially if you’re interested in exploring the historic downtown and soaking in the beauty of the city. The hotel itself is a joy to be in, and I hope that with a few improvements—especially to the pool and laundry experience—it will become a truly flawless...
