The seats make you feel very big as you're crammed in like sardines.
Parking for this event was horrible. Trying to find a place to park, and the apparent confusing kiosk to get your ticket caused a significant delay at the gate. This caused a significant delay in getting to the civic center.
The city of Savannah has some drainage issues at the civic center side of the crosswalk, as there was a lot of standing water. I'd hate to see it when it was raining. Folks with open shoes had to j-walk to avoid getting their feet wet (photo).
The entry to the civic center was very slow and poorly organized. Many ladies were told they couldn't come in with the bag they brought and had to either put it in their car or pay extra to check it. The guy standing on the ledge shouting instructions wasn't clear, and added to the confusion. The lady in front of us frequented the civic center and was able to offer clear guidance.
Since so many were late into the event, this caused additional issues and disruption while seating. We Sincerely apologize to everyone that we disrupted... except to the Karen in front of us that decided to shush us and try to have a stare-down with us. I hope her seat was more uncomfortable than mine was. In fact Karen should be happy they were out of popcorn at the concession when I went to buy some water.
The concession needed additional workers and cashiers. The 15 minute intermission was blown by 10 minutes because of their delays. We were in the balcony seats, and the lines were filled by the time we were able to get into the line. And then the lines weren't organized and folks didn't know where they ended, so many unknowingly jumped the lines.
The show we went to was fantastic, but would have been better if I could have seen the...
Read moreWe attended the theater with a pretty large group of 12 for the Nutcracker. The show was very enjoyable, terrific job. There were a couple of things about the theater we were a little underwhelmed by: you couldn't bring any bags in, except a tiny clutch. There were other prohibited items as well. I don't recall seeing any restrictions on the website itself. I feel like that should definitely be on the homepage of every event and the theater website itself. The only spot that I saw the bag restriction was in small print on ticketmaster, none of the other restrictions were listed there either. They also don't accept any cash for souvenirs or concessions. That was also not listed anywhere online. Adding those two things would have made a lot of difference to the people who had to walk all the way back to the parking garage (event parking was full) to put away their bags and items. We had seats all the way at the front. It was enjoyable to see all of the performers expressions up close! I would recommend not getting tickets for the center first 3 rows if you have small children--it was a difficult for ours to see over the 2 rows of people in front of them (ages 7 and up were with...
Read moreSaw stomp. Excellent show. But as far as the venue goes it was sparse inside as if it's not used often. Seats are ridiculously cramped. And it'd be useful to have theater etiquette posted somewhere in there for those who have none or employ better attendees. People were using their phones to find seats , like a lot of people. No the venue's fault but there were far too many late arrivals after the show was in full swing. Don't wear 7-8 in high up-dos to a show if you can manage. Don't text so much your own family tells you to stop. Even with the light as low as possible, in a completely dark theatre you are an eyesore. No one , not twice, but majority of the show a grown woman was constantly checking her phone. Don't hold whole conversations with each other etc. It's fairly simple and reasonable etiquette. I would attend a show again if something interesting came along though, and just hope the ones who don't know how to act skip any further attendances. So the etiquette pamphlet or poster would be helpful in the future if the theater has a way to implement that practice. I suppose one would think this would be common knowledge, but perhaps more people need to be educated on...
