Had a very unfortunate experience here with my husband. Visited around approximately 4:55pm. Ben was out server. It wasn't too busy when we were there, but there were other people. Took about 10 minutes for Ben to assist us. On the website, and on the physical menu it says there is a roast available for market price, however Ben informed us it has been a few years sense they served that and its no longer available. Was disappointed, but thats not his fault. Went to order a flight of beers, that was not being served at that time. Not his fault. Our issue lays with his attitude. Not once did he apologize for the confusion or help guide us into better alternatives that would satisfy our tastes and help us to enjoy the exerience. Didnt experience one ounce of customer service around him. His voice was very withdrawn and he was absent as a person. He wasn't very helpful when it comes to answering our questions. We felt rushed to order and embarrassed to ask questions. We ordered our food and drinks during the initial first conversation. A goup that came in about 10 minutes after us got their drinks before we did even though we ordered first and we only ordered 2 beers. When our food came, my husband got the shepards pie, which was very tasty! I got the corned beef with cabbage and potatoes. The demi glaze was flavorful, just a tad watered down and my potatoes were cold upon arrival. Not a big deal, it was over all tasty. I would of informed Ben about the potatoes, but it was a challenge to get him back over to our table. I didn't need new ones, I just wanted extra potatoes, which I did get, but only because my husband had to flag him down. When we finished our meal, it took over 20 minutes for him to come check on us. The experience and foir was not worth $60.
It was a special day for my husband and I, but visiting Kells wasn't part of our special night. Just an...
Read moreHosted a wedding after party here last year in December. I was put in touch with Julie Manheim who was a nightmare to work with. She took 2-3 weeks to respond to emails, calls, and texts and it was very hard to reach out to her. But I gave her the benefit of doubt initially. I had my friend visit the place before finalizing everything. He was shown the upstairs area as promised over the phone. We absolutely loved it and booked it. Few weeks later, I flew down from east coast to take a final look. The staff present showed me the upstairs space. A day before the event, somehow after many calls and texts I was able to talk to Julie who reassured me that everything was set to go as planned.
The night of the event, we reached the venue to find out that there is only ONE staff member available, the upstairs space is CLOSED due to staff shortage and the kitchen will be closed at 10 pm(we signed a contract to pay $2k min. for Food & Beverage and were never told in our multiple conversations and emails that food will be unavailable after 10 pm). The staff member told me that he was informed the NIGHT BEFORE about the event despite us having signed the contract months ago. The staff on duty that night saved the event for us(I think his name was Jorge, can't remember precisely). He talked to the chef to extend the kitchen hours so we could feed our guests, he single handedly took care of all of our drinks and made sure everything was in order. It was literally a one-man show. If it wasn't for him, our event was for sure ruined by Julie who is clearly very incompetent at managing an event. Did not let her staff know about the event in time, because of that we were not able to receive the upstairs area as promised and did not let us know about the time kitchen closes. Location is excellent, and food was...
Read moreIf you're a single person looking to get your drink on, I guess this place is alright. Just don't go here with a family because you get treated like crap.
I have never had service as poor as I received here on 5/11 around 3pm. I should have known from the moment, the bartender tells us to sit anywhere, that we should have just walked out. It was embarrassing to take my in-laws from out of town to this place thinking it would be a classy enough joint to grab a quick bite to eat and maybe get some friendly lunch service? Not at all.
The waiter and bartender. See I used to work food service long ago and I know how tough it can be when you're short staffed. I understand. But you don't throw the GD menu on the table and then run off without greeting us and completely ignoring us for 15-20 minutes. Not even that shady bartender, who greeted the couple who came in long after us, bothered to acknowledge us and not even making us feel welcome. In fact the whole time, it felt like we were inconveniencing these losers. So when the piece of work waiter comes back, he gets us drinks and then takes our orders. It took this guy so long to get us 3 sodas and a water. Then shortly after, he tells us the cook isn't making anymore sandwiches even though it's before 3pm. By then, we just ask for the bill, pay and walk out of there wasting over a half hour of waiting for nothing.
Worst $8.25 for 3 sodas we ever spent. If either waiter or bartender told us as we came in that they were short staffed and asked us to be patient, then maybe we would be more forgiving. But the fools didn't. Was embarrassing to take the in-laws from out of town to this hovel and I've never felt so disrespected before dining out. At least the next place we went, the waiter there got a great tip....
