R&R BBQ: Nachos So Good, I Almost Divorced My Wife (But Not Really) Let me tell you folks, I've had pulled pork nachos all over this great nation of ours. From dive bars to fancy gastropubs, I've seen it all. But NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING, could have prepared me for the revelation that is R&R BBQ's pulled pork nachos. Imagine, if you will, a mountain of crispy tortilla chips, piled high with slow-cooked, melt-in-your-mouth pulled pork that tastes like it partied all night in a smokehouse with the juiciest, most flavorful spices known to man. Then, picture this glorious mountain getting absolutely DRENCHED in made from scratch queso cheese, like a billionaire taking a Scrooge McDuck money bath, but better, because queso cheese. Now, before you lose consciousness from pure nacho-phoria, let me tell you about my wife's pineapple pulled pork sandwich. Let's just say, for a fleeting moment, I questioned the sanctity of our marriage. The sweet and tangy pineapple played a symphony with the savory pork, a harmony so beautiful it should be illegal. But here's the thing: despite this near marital meltdown, the folks at R&R BBQ get it. As their wise owner once said, "there's nothin' fast about our food; in fact, it's downright slow." And let me tell you, that slow and steady smoking wins the race every time. You might have to wait a bit for this barbecue bliss, but trust me, it's worth every delicious, slow-cooked second. So, if you're looking for an experience that will have you saying "slowly smoked, quickly devoured" (because let's be real, those nachos ain't lasting long), then R&R BBQ is your holy grail. Just be sure to warn your significant other beforehand, because these flavors might have them questioning their life choices (again, mostly about the nachos). 5 stars, would steal another bite of my wife's...
Read moreUPDATE to the below review R&R’s Brand President, Neil, reached out to me following my review. He fully addressed the issues I mentioned below and made up for my negative experience. I’m happy to say I have gone back to R&R and had a great experience. Thank you, Neil for showing that you care about your customers!! I have so much respect for how you handled this situation. I will definitely go back to R&R in the future.
I’ve always loved R&R. I literally had them cater my wedding. So it is disappointing that I have to write this review. My husband and I went to R&R last night and it was perhaps one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. First, the person who took our order was so incredibly rude and unresponsive. I am always a happy and cheerful person and it rubs me the wrong way when I ask the cashier a simple question and she just stares at me blankly. But I just decided to let it go. Then, after paying over $5 extra for brisket, the meat arrives to our table cold. For paying close to $45 for a measly plate with just 10 small pieces of meat and ONE side, I’d at least expect the food to be warm. Luckily when my husband told an employee they said they’d get us new brisket, but even still it should have never been cold to begin with. Another thing that ruined this experience was the restaurant itself. There were maybe 6-8 people in the dining area and yet every table was a mess. We had to clean our own table because there weren’t any clean ones to pick from. It was just horrible. Then, the cherry on top is that my husband and I both got food poisoning. Only hours after coming home from R&R, we both had severe indigestion and my husband threw up. Overall it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had and it makes me sick that I’ve given R&R so much of my money. Will...
Read moreThis is my favorite BBQ joint in Salt Lake, but I'm leaving a three star review because I'm disappointed that they've recently changed how they make their onion rings. Their onion rings have always been my favorite item on their menu, and actually my favorite onion rings anywhere. It seems that in the past couple months they've changed how they make them. I asked the staff about this and they confirmed that they did change the recipe, they said "so they're easier to make". The new recipe is nowhere near as good as the old recipe, and honestly taste like the cheap stuff you'd get at a fast food joint. They appear to still be charging the same price for the "easier to make" recipe as they did for the "harder to make" recipe. I just wanted to voice my disappointment that R&R has apparently decided to lower it's standards by making some of their menu items in a sub-par manner while still charging the same price as the higher quality item. Hopefully someone from R&R sees this review and does something about it, either bringing back the higher quality food or adjusting the price to reflect the "easier to make" recipe. If it's "easier to make" and doesn't taste nearly as good, then why should the customer pay the same price as the better food that took more time and care to make? One of the reasons I loved R&R was because they seemed committed to making quality food for their customers, but if they're going to cheap out like this then I'll likely stop coming. Every time I've eaten there I always got the onion rings because they were better than anywhere else. They were my favorite item on the menu, and I just don't see the reason in going anymore if I...
