Culver’s has always been my favorite “fast food” restaurant. I don’t group them with McD’s or BK. They can be considered “fast food” but they are anything but!! I spent most of my life in Wisconsin and now I live in Washington state (no Culver’s here..ugh!!), so when I visit Wisconsin, Minnesota, and now Texas (my son lives here) I always make one if not two stops at Culver’s. On my last visit to Texas in October 2023 to see my son, I knew I would be going to Culver’s. I called Culver’s a few weeks before arriving in Texas, because I wanted to try the new Curder Burger which I never got a chance to try when visiting Wisconsin or MInnesota. I ended up talking to the owner which surprised me that the owner and his wife would be working at this restaurant. When I told the owner my story and my request (me, not knowing the owner is from Wisconsin) he told me they were going through the curder burger fast but he assured me he would set two of them aside for me. I was floored that someone would do that for me. SO upon arriving my son and I went to Culver’s and when I walked in to place my order for the curder burger sadly they said they were sold out. I mentioned I had talked to the owner before arriving and the cashier said are you Jim from Wisconsin? I said yes and he assured me yes I would be getting the last two curder burgers. From that moment on the owner’s wife and other staff knew who I was and said they had been expecting me. They welcomed me and treated me amazingly!! I kind of felt like a celeb with everyone saying are you jim from Wisconsin. It was truly awesome. Little did I know the owner had sent out an email blast to let everyone know I would be coming in and to take care of me! So yes everyone knew, someone named Jim from Wisconsin would be coming in and the last two curder burgers are for him. This was truly amazing customer service. Not only did this assure I would be coming back here every time I visit (honestly i would because i love Culver’s) but this location puts Wisconsin and Minnesota locations to shame and Wisconsin is where Culver’s began. I think Wisconsin has taken Culver’s for granted, because my last visit there had been less than average to not so great. This Culver’s location has restored my faith in the chain! I wish we would get a Culver’s here in Washington state! Who knows maybe one day! Keep up the good work I will see...
Read moreThe food quality here is among the best in the fast food genre. This chain originated in the upper Midwest, and we were fairly regular customers for the several years that we lived there. We were very glad to accidentally discover this location on our way to NFM. Two of the Midwestern items on the menu are the cheese curds (white and yellow cheddar lightly breaded and fried), and the fried pork loin, aka tenderloin, sandwich. Both are excellent quality and worthy of note, especially for folks who miss these items that are common up north but foreign to the (DFW) area. There's a cod sandwich on the menu (fried), which is also pretty good.
The burgers are excellent as well. They call them Butter Burgers. The butter has to do with how the insides of the buns are buttered and grilled, giving them a flavorful browning and some crunch. Kinda like the outside of a grilled cheeses sandwich. The burgers themselves are very flavorful and juicy but thin, so order the double. The veggies on the burgers are fresh.
The crinkle-cut fries have been disappointing here, being under-cooked and under-seasoned in my opinion, on more than one occasion. Too bad, because crinkle-cut fries can be great when hot, crunchy, and salted.
The frozen custard is excellent, too, so give it a try for dessert. The chain started as a custard and burger place, after all. Finally, the prices here are very reasonable, especially given the quality of the food.
During Lent, the restaurants up north have Walleye Pike on the menu. As I recall, there's a sandwich and a dinner/platter option. We'll definitely make the 45 minute drive there from our home for that if they put it on the menu here - that item...
Read moreI visited Culver’s The Colony on 09/03/2025 and experienced behavior that is utterly unacceptable for any customer-facing business. Staff Behavior: I initially spoke with Ms. Jackson, who refused to clearly provide her name despite repeated requests. She was evasive, dismissive, and unprofessional, creating a frustrating and hostile interaction. Manager Interaction:
I then spoke with the manager, Nate, around 2:30 PM CST. He was visibly sweating, loud, confrontational, and openly disrespectful, saying things like, “Buddy, I’m not replacing nothing neither.” His behavior was threatening, unprofessional, and completely inappropriate for a leadership role. Hygiene & Pest Concerns: The store displayed serious cleanliness and sanitation issues, raising concerns about customer safety and health.
Culture, Leadership & Diversity Failures: The interactions highlight systemic issues with leadership, training, and corporate culture. The staff’s behavior and the complete lack of professionalism by Nate suggest that immediate corrective action is necessary. The staff is not diverse, further highlighting a problematic culture at this location.
Recommendation / Call for Action: This level of disrespect, hostility, and negligence is unacceptable. I strongly urge Culver’s corporate office to take immediate action, including a full investigation into both Nate and Ms. Jackson. Their behavior is unfit for their roles, and I recommend termination to uphold Culver’s standards for professionalism, safety, and inclusivity. Customers deserve a clean, respectful, and safe environment, and leadership must be held...
