Quirks Oceanfront — Restaurant in Virginia Beach

I literally never write reviews, but our experience was so rough I had to share. To start, we had to switch tables 3 times. The first table was a wobbly death trap, and the next 2 we got dripped on by the AC unit. We gave up and just stayed at the third table and moved in far enough to avoid the dripage.

The drinks...I got a rum punch that was so over the top coconut it was hard to drink, and I seriously doubt there was any alcohol in it at all.

Next, the food. It started with a queso appetizer which while the queso was ok, the chips were so burnt, like shockingly dark. Couldn't believe they felt right about even serving them. No plates, utensils, or napkins were brought to the table until we asked for them.

The actual meals weren't much better. My daughter had the fish and chips that was missing the hush puppies. My sons wings were floating in an obscene amount of BBQ sauce. My husband's croutons on his salad seemed like they had been sitting out for days. My California wrap thing had some steak in it, but mostly full of soggy fries... and bonus, more burnt chips as a side, yay!

The waitress never bothered to refill our waters. I just gave my son mine cause it was clear she wasn't coming back. None of the staff seemed very interested in working. We watched another couple come in, sit down, and eventually leave because no one ever waited on them.

Then the bill came. Now this was by far the worst dining experience that we've had since being here, and honestly, this is our third trip to VA beach, and its the all time worst meal EVER! I thought I had the wrong check at first. $163!! As I looked over the bill in horror I realized a 20% gratuity was added which was like $26....for the worst service/food ever!! I'll start by saying I live at the oceanfront. My friends and I could have been frequent customers. I've walked by the oceanfront quirks almost daily. I thought it looked cute, and I love that you can sit out and get views of the ocean. I've been to the one in town center, but hadn't been to this one yet. So my friend and I decided to pop in for drinks and a quick bite. We arrived at 7:25. When we got there, the hostess told us that the main outside section was not open, but we could sit at the other area. She also then told us that their kitchen was closing. We asked if that meant we couldn't order. She said we could order drinks. We then proceeded to sit down, and she handed us menus. We were confused because she told us that we could just order drinks because the kitchen was closing. The menus were not anything like what is online or what I've had at town center. She then mentioned that they were closing at 8:00. My friend and I looked at each other wondering why can't we order food considering it's not quite 7:30 yet. We didn't order anything, got up, and left. It was clear she did not want us there. Customer service is a major problem. Quirks needs to fix it. We walked down to Pelons instead. While they don't have the oceanfront views, we know the food is good and the staff will actually...

Here on a vacation with my friends, walked by quirks going to the beach and thought it would be a cute restaurant to try out. We sat ourselves outside and were helped immediately, but out waitress was not very friendly at all. The nachos were good as an app. We than got our food (which all came out at different times ). My one friend waited 10 minutes longer than anyone else, just for them to bring out the wrong thing. She wanted the one crab cake meal which was 19… they brought out the two crab cake meal for 32. The waitress apologized and fixed it but than on her reciept just discounted 20%? instead of the price difference of the two? The waitress was also passive agressive about the whole thing the whole time. We saw her walking around with food to other tables not knowing where to give the food because she could no keep track. The food was meh, most of the menu that was online was not on the menu they handed us, overpriced for sure. Also have automatic gratuity of 20%… none of us felt that was fair with the service...
