I recently stayed at the Marlane for a long weekend with my husband and son. We originally had a different place booked, but I came across the Marlane and although I am not very familiar with the area, it seemed like it was closer to everything than the original place I booked.
I am so glad I switched! First, the location was perfect. It is only one block from the beach and boardwalk at the convention center end. There is a park across the street which has basketball and tennis courts and a nice playground. Since the boardwalk is so close you are close to all of the rides and activities on Morey's three Piers, arcades, aquarium, escape rooms, and three waterparks. There are also many non-boardwalk restaurants within walking distance.
Parking was right on site. There is a pool which we ended up not using since we went to the beach, but it looked well kept and was right outside.
I never expect much from a hotel outside of a place to sleep and shower and for it to be clean. The room was perfect for what we needed. In fact the Marlane has so many things that make it better than just a clean bed, shower, and a great location. Our room had two queen beds, hair dryer and a safe, but also a stove top, dishes/utensils, a microwave, and a full size refrigerator. There was also maid service so if we wanted to have towels swapped out we could. There were some chairs just outside the room as well in case we wanted to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather.
The most striking part of our stay was the customer service. The owner, Lisa, is a pleasure! She lives on site. Right from check in you could tell that she truly wants the guests to enjoy their stay and that we could always contact her if we needed anything at all. She gets this across in a way that makes you know it is genuine not just a script. She informed us of a number of amenities available including: coffee and tea available in the morning until noon each day right outside the office and lemon water thereafter, ability to borrow beach chairs or boogie boards to take to the beach, and basketballs or tennis rackets for the courts across the street. She is a wealth of knowledge regarding local restaurants and activities in the area.
I will definitely choose the Marlane next time we go...
Read moreWe have stayed all over Wildwood for over 30 years so we are not strangers to the "Jersey Shore motel experience". Like most motels this one too has it's pros and cons. Pros: Location, you can walk everywhere! Parking was decent, which is a huge pro in Wildwood. Friendly owners live on site, definitely felt like they cared and took good care of their motel. Amenities, coffee in the AM, and a "backyard" area with grills, tables, free ice, laundry. The price was right for Wildwood. Happy to find the beds are memory foam style mattress which is what we have at home due to a back issue, and this is one of the only times we've been away and didn't wake up with a backache (that's why there is no box spring, it's not needed with this type of mattress). Cleanliness, it's pretty clean. I always wipe down everything and this motel was one of the cleaner ones we've been in. The clientele here are couples and families, no rowdy groups or partiers. It was quiet which we appreciated. Only a few cons to speak of. The bath towels are terrible, and I mean really terrible. The towels were clean but there were hairs on them, which I didn't love. I have cleaning rags that are larger and softer, Planet Fitness has better towels. I think it's time to upgrade your towels Marlane! There is no shower head, it's just one of those open sprayer style. The AC in our room was mounted through the wall in the back of the room right at face level, so every time we came in our out of the bathroom or over the to the closet area we would get blasted by cold air in the face, and it couldn't be redirected up. Speaking of the room it was first floor a few away from the office. The layout of the motel meant everyone walked past our room. Coffee and a picnic table was right outside our door, combined with a back window that faced another property. We had to keep the curtains shut the entire time for privacy. There are no sheers or blinds on the windows so we had zero natural light coming in, we legit felt like we were in a basement. (not all rooms will have these issues obviously) Pro or con I'm not sure, they had free beach chairs to use but they were always taken. Heated clean pool, but very small. All in all, the pros outweigh the cons and we would...
Read moreMy family and I stayed here from 7-24-22 to 7-31-22. Upon arriving, you check in with Lisa. You finish paying for your trip and she gives you a parking permit for you to keep displayed in your vehicle for the length of your stay. Lisa was friendly, very welcoming and you felt like this is your vacation home for the week vs just another motel stay. 2 block walk to the boardwalk. 1 block walk to the tennis/basketball courts and playground.
Upon entering the room you could just smell the cleanliness of it which was such a refresh feeling. You could get room service everyday if you wanted. We didn’t need it everyday but we did swap out towels and washcloths each day. Their are 4 housekeepers, 2 to cover the upper floor and 2 for the lower floor. They do a fantastic job keeping the rooms and property clean and spotless! They even clean the concrete floors and steps! Never seen that before!
My only issue was the beds. The mattress was hard as a rock. My wife and I never really got good quality sleep all week long. I understand this is subjective, but still has to be expressed.
They offer plenty of coupon books and brochures for discounted activities and restaurant’s. They provide basketballs, tennis rackets and tennis balls along with grilling utensils. In the ‘backyard’ are 2 grills on site for your cooking out needs!
I believe complimentary coffee was offered from 8:30am til noon (can’t remember the start time) pool was opened from 10am to 8pm. Before the pool opened, they would run a vacuum inside it to get the debris and sand out of it. Before you step inside the pool area they have a shower like knob for you to rinse your feet off so you don’t track in dirt and debris inside of the pool. Pool was always clean!
We all had fun on our vacation to Wildwood and my kids already said they want to come back next year! Thanks to MarLane Motel for playing a part in that with clean rooms, property, pool and extra amenities that other properties don’t offer! We look forward staying here...
