My partner and I booked at this hotel for 2 nights while in Hanoi. We are use to travelling on the cheap and most basic places go for $10 to $15 a night so we thought we'd treat ourselves to the higher end of our budget. There is no price that could make me stay another night here. Even if they offered the room for free I would turn it down! We arrived in a room that smelt like feces and had mold growing in every orifice. We opened a window and stuck it out until the morning to find the smell growing by the minute. We went down and asked the receptionist to witness the state of our room. She instantly flushed the toilet and agreed that there was something wrong with the sewage system. We met a couple who were checking out of the hotel and asked at reception if we could change rooms to a cleaner one. She said no. She then phoned her boss who also said no. We asked if we could get a refund for the next night in order to find a new hotel and they said no. We made our booking through Agoda and are now trying to dispute the charge. Not only did we pay the two nights while only staying one we were also treated like dirt. The staff were dishonest, rude, and frankly horrible. To top it off, there are noises coming from the ceiling, walls, and bed, all night. Breakfast was a slice of white bread with a cold egg and an instant coffee. Do not believe the pictures you see on any of the booking websites and don't trust the staff to be cooperative in any way. It is a disgrace that they should even be able to run a hotel and I hope this review stops anyone making the same mistake we did!!! If I could give zero I would!

This place is a complete trainwreck. Me and my gf booked a private double room, which smelled like the sewage was broken. The foul odor came from the drains in the bathroom/shower and filled the entire room all day. There was a thick layer of dirt of about 1cm thick sitting on the ceiling fan, closet, and on top of the refrigerator. The ancient spring bed was sitting on orange bricks. and felt like it would topple over any minute. Asked receptionist (and her manager) if we could change rooms or get a refund for our second night, to which they recited the 3-day cancellation policy like robots. Completely useless and frankly rude. Ended up leaving one day early, losing out on money, and finding a much better place around the corner at the same price.

Part 2||Dave Investigates:||Travel Warning!||The “Olive Hanoi Hotel” Old Quarter Hanoi.||Hanoi, Vietnam Travelers Beware!||Yesterday I began my story as Part 1. ||Please read this part first before reading this post because this story is progressive. If you do not read Part 1, you will not understand this post.)||(Part 1 is immediately below this post.)||Important Note||I first stayed at the Olive Hotel and it’s sister hotel the “Do” hotel beginning on or about April 5, 2019. (Same owners as the Olive Hotel in Hanoi.)||I was supposed to be staying at the “Do” hotel originally but, when I had arrived at 2:00 am after a full fourteen hour day of traveling to arrive at the “Do” hotel, I found they sold my room that I had already paid for via my booking reservation.||So there I was in Hanoi, Vietnam at 2:00 am with no hotel room. I had booked the room for thirty (30) nights weeks in advance.||I found myself walking the dark streets of Hanoi with my three duffle bag suitcases finds a different hotel at 2:00 am.||(This part of the story will become important later in Part 3 of my story. I had to move back and forth between the “Do” hotel and the “Olive Hotel,” four times in April. I am almost 60 years old!)||Now I continue Part 2||Attached for you to see in evidence is an email I had received from the Olive Hotel front desk who was the day manager of the “Olive Hotel.”||The email speaks for itself.||The email states that I am an honored guest, because this was now going to be my second months booking after my April nightmare with this same hotel owners. ||( I know, my stupid mistake for trusting what I was promised was truth.)||The email states the daily room rate I was going to be charged.| |The email states that my room of which I had stayed for a few nights back in April, had been “redecorated and reconstructed” since my last stay two months prior.||Now read the email and then look at the photographs of the room I was forced to stay in for three weeks because the “owner,” rather than returning the full amount of money I had paid his hotel for my thirty day stay, sent me an email telling me that if I left his hotel before thirty days, he was going to charge me an additional room rate, (more expensive at 150,000 Dong or $7.00 USD per night) for the nights I had already stayed.||Know this fact:||This time, during this July stay, in the first week alone, I had to unpack and then repack up my belongings and move four (4) different times to different rooms because the rooms are in such poor repair!||I was forced to stay in one room on 100 degree plus 90 percent humidity days and nights WITHOUT any air conditioning!! (This was immediately following the installation of what I was told was a new air conditioning unit!!)||The cheap owner and his wife and mother who really owns the place, replaced the broken air conditioning unit with an older used NON working unit then told me to go back to that room that it was working fine!||The “new” air conditioning unit did NOT work either yet they refused to offer me another room and I had to sleep in a room at 100 plus degree heat for forty eight hours!!!||When I finally became very angry and complained at the front desk, I received an email from the owners son asking me, |“WHY NOW,” (in all large caps lettering,) was I upset and that “I was creating unnecessary tension” between himself, his staff and me.?” ||So, now read this original email that confirmed my reservation, and view the photos.||How do you like my newly redecorated and newly reconstructed room? Notice not a single window!! It was like a dungeon!! Dark and mildew smelling!||Part 3 tomorrow!||Phần 2||Cảnh báo du lịch!

Absolutely awful. The 'hotel' is a glorified hostel, situated at the back of a shop. If I could give this place zero stars I would. We were told that we could check in early at 1pm, only to arrive and be told the previous people in our room had not checked out yet so we had to wait. That was fine and not their fault. However, we saw the couple check out and within 10 minutes our room was ready. I'm sorry but 10 minutes to fully clean a room is not long enough for it to be clean and I was right. The floor was dirty, the bathroom dirty and the only thing the cleaner had done is change the sheets. The shower did not work and was just a trickle coming out of a tap on the wall. The electric switches were coming off the wall and definitely a hazard and the beds.... Oh the beds. It would be comfier to sleep on the floor. Honestly, it was like concrete, not a chance you would get a decent night's sleep on those beds. We've stayed in low cost hotels before with hard beds but this was something else. We ended up checking out a few hours later and cancelled our booking on booking.com for free. However when handing the keys in, the receptionist tried to say we owed them one nights fee. He then rang the manager who spoke to us over the phone and was extremely rude, demanding we pay the fee for a one night stay and that if we wanted to cancel then we needed to have done it before 6pm. At no point was this explained to us and at no point did we fill in a check in sheet or sign anything at check in. Therefore I let the receptionist take a photo of our cancellation and we found a nicer hotel up the road. Do yourself a favour, do not...
