Gia Vien - A Budget-Friendly Stay near Bui Vien
During my recent trip to Vietnam, I had the opportunity to stay at Gia Vien, a hotel conveniently located near Bui Vien Street. Situated in a vibrant area known for its nightlife and bustling atmosphere, Gia Vien offered a budget-friendly accommodation option for travelers seeking to explore the vibrant streets of Ho Chi Minh City.
Let's start with the positives. One of the standout features of Gia Vien is its affordability. Considering its prime location and proximity to popular attractions, the price you pay for the accommodation is quite reasonable. If you're a budget-conscious traveler looking for a place to stay without breaking the bank, Gia Vien offers good value for your money.
Upon entering the hotel, I noticed that the overall cleanliness was well-maintained. Despite the age of the rooms, the housekeeping staff seemed to make an effort to keep them tidy and presentable. This attention to cleanliness was certainly appreciated, as it added a sense of comfort to my stay.
However, it's important to note that the rooms at Gia Vien are indeed old. The decor and furnishings may show signs of wear and tear, which can affect the overall aesthetic appeal. If you prefer modern and updated accommodations, Gia Vien may not meet your expectations in this regard. Nonetheless, if you can look past the dated appearance, you'll find a decent place to rest and recharge.
One significant factor to consider is the noise level. Due to its proximity to Bui Vien Street, a lively and vibrant area filled with bars and restaurants, the hotel can be subject to considerable noise. If you're a light sleeper or prefer a peaceful environment, I highly recommend requesting a room that is far away from the main street. This way, you can minimize the disruption to your sleep and ensure a more restful stay.
Despite its limitations, Gia Vien offers a reasonable option for travelers on a budget. The affordability, combined with the overall cleanliness, makes it a decent choice for those who prioritize value and convenience over luxury. It's worth mentioning that the hotel's location near Bui Vien Street provides easy access to numerous attractions, allowing you to immerse yourself in the vibrant energy of Ho Chi Minh City.
In conclusion, Gia Vien offers good accommodation considering the price you pay. The hotel may have some drawbacks, such as older rooms and potential noise issues, but it manages to maintain cleanliness and provide a comfortable stay. If you're looking for an affordable option close to Bui Vien Street and are willing to compromise on certain aspects, Gia Vien can be a suitable choice for your stay in Ho...
Read moreWe stayed at Gia Vien Hotel in our February 2024 Vietnam Trip. Location The hotel is located around 8-9 Kms far from Tan Son Nhat International Airport, Terminal 2. Location of the hotel is very strategic as you will easily get cab, taxis to the hotel from any corner of the city. Also various tourists attractions such as - Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, Saigaon Central Post Office, War Remnants Museum are located within perimeter of 2 Kms. Bui Vien walking street is just 200-300 Meters away from the hotel. Rooms We had booked Standard Double Room without window for 3 nights. The room was small at around 120-130 Sq meters with medium sized restroom. Most rooms of this hotel don't have windows. Rooms are old but okay for the money they charge. The elevator was working. Service The service of the hotel was okay. Nothing great or nothing in particular about. The most noteworthy point in whole of Vietnam is that you will not be allowed to check in your room before 01.00 PM or 02.00 PM in some cities. This was shock to us as we had arrived at hotel at around 09.00 AM. So please schedule your journey accordingly. Verdict The hotel and its rooms are absolutely OKAYISH. They just serve the purpose. If you want best rooms, the same street has multiple hotels on it....

Title: The hotel has an unclear business model. (+) Facilities are decent. Location is right in the central area. (-) The hotel lacks clarity. (+) Good location, spacious room with windows. (-) Lack of clarity, dirty bed, noisy, impolite staff.
Lack of clarity (1): I booked Gia Vien Hotel on Agoda, selecting a check-in & check-out within one day option. However, Gia Vien appeared in the results despite only offering rooms for a maximum of 3 hours. Unsure if the issue was from the hotel or the CTA, I agreed to pay the additional fee (totaling 774,000 VND). At the same time, another guest was also checking in and had encountered a similar misunderstanding. The hotel quickly offered both guests the option to pay extra, suggesting this was not the first occurrence.
Lack of clarity (2): In the room, there were two types of bottled water, one complimentary and one charged, placed together without any distinction, leaving guests unaware of which bottle incurs a charge. When I pointed this out, instead of an explanation, the staff responded, "Why didn’t you ask me?" Any bottled water is just water, and a guest paying 770,000 VND per night wouldn't mind a 20,000 VND bottle. However, I don't support such unclear business practices or the attitude shown in...
