TD Canada Trust penalizes loyal customers! I currently have a 5 year closed mortgage with 3 years remaining with TD Canada Trust. I want to sell my home and purchase another home, 'porting' my mortgage. Upon visiting the bank to find out what we can afford we have been told we need to qualify at 4.74%, even though we have a fixed rate mortgage at 2.89% with 3 years remaining. We were told we have to qualify at the higher rate because when our term is up the rates may be higher so TD wants to insure we can still pay. But if I walk in off the street I only need to qualify at 2.89% or possibly even less - whatever product I choose. An absolute stranger with no history with TD and the bank has no concerns whatsoever that they will be able to pay one year hence. The alternative presented was that we could choose to pay off the mortgage with a penalty of $11,347. If we did that we could qualify at any of the lower rates we choose just like a stranger off the street. How does this make any sense? How is this not a complete slap in our face. We have been long term customers for decades with the TD and yet they are making us qualify at a higher rate than a complete stranger. Or pay an exorbitant penalty to get the same treatment as that stranger. How is this not discriminatory treatment, perhaps even blackmail against a...
Read moreI was there today with a car buyer to deposit two bank drafts since I was selling a vehicle. The teller I was dealing with by the name of Deep, was quite rude and cursing under his breath whenever he was roadblocked on the computer. He made it difficult for us to deposit the cheques. At one point, he refused to offer to add the financial loan company (the vehicle had a lien) as a payee even though I had the instructions printed out on paper from the loan company.
Disappointed by his unprofessional behaviour. I will not be back at this branch anytime soon, even though I live close by and walking distance from it. Otherwise TD employees are usually a pleasure to interact with.
EDIT: Thank you for the response Derrick. I will follow up via email for...
Read moreHorrible customer service experience and awful financial advice. CSR at the Customer Care department was very unprofessional and provided an advice that damage my credit. TD Canada Trust should provide better training to the Customer Care department and prioritizing client's goals as the main tool to direction any financial advice or complaint. Also, TD bank is one of the most expensive banks in relation to banking fees. If you are looking to pay a lot of money in fees every year. This bank is a good option. But after everything that happened to me I'm switching to a different financial institution. After more than 12 years of being with this bank. Worst customer service experience ever and in middle of a...
