All My wife and I stayed here for three nights in mid-September, ‘22. We enjoyed it very much and recommend it highly. It is a classic old hotel set right on the river, just across from the picturesque castle. One of the town bridges is just in front of the hotel, and the street leads to the castle in one direction and to the main part of the old town in the other. We found the location to be very convenient. A short distance away is another bridge with a walkway that leads to one of the town parking areas. It would be possible to reach the hotel with a small amount of luggage, but we opted to park and walk to the hotel before obtaining a town pass to drive to the front of the hotel with our luggage. If you then choose one of the hotel’s private parking options, which we did, someone from the hotel will guide you in another vehicle to your parking area and bring you back to the hotel. Be aware that even with a town pass you can’t drive in town from 10 am to 3 pm, which can complicate departure as well as arrival. We arranged for a taxi to pick us up with our luggage and take us to our car when we checked out to get around this.||||Our room (401) was on the corner of the top floor and likely an upgrade from our castle-view room. It was a very large suite with a bedroom area, a sitting area, a separate room with closet and storage area, and a huge tiled-bathroom with an enclosed alcove for the toilet. We had terrific views of the town, the river, and the castle from every room. The sleeping area had a comfortable king bed, a desk, sofa, tv cabinet, small round table with two chairs, nicely decorated a classical style. There was a single cup coffee maker that was very good. The closet wqs large, but had only and few hangers and the safe wasn’t operable. The bathroom had a pedestal sink with adequate counter space, and a shower/tub combo. Our only complaint about the room was that there were no heat controls and it was unseasonably chilly during our visit.||||Breakfast was a very good buffet with lots of fruit, cereals, baked goods, eggs, breakfast meats, etc.||||All in all, we highly recommend the Dvorak for comfort, location,...
Read moreThe desk clerk, Mirka, is a wonderful wonderful woman. When my daughter left her purse on the CZ Shuttle Van, Mirka jumped in to call them immediately, and we had the purse, with passport, returned relatively quickly. Mirka was very helpful. Wish we could have said the same of the surly male bartender/wait person who added a "mandatory tip" to our credit card and would not remove it when we called him out about it. He didn't even wait on us on Christmas Eve hotel dinner and simply came to issue the bill. We planned to leave a cash tip directly with our actual waiter, Petr, who was a real gem. Mirka was not in the next two days and we were unable to resolve the matter. That said, the remaining staff including the room cleaners (who we never actually had clean our room, but left us cookies each day) and the breakfast staff were very kind and cheery. The location is nice with a river view from our room. The room was updated, and had some curious quirks that were fine. WiFi was poor in our room, but better in other folks, so it was simply a matter of perhaps they can somehow improve upon. I would stay here again. However, they seem totally against the use of credit cards, even though we paid for the room with one. Seems to be the norm in Cesky Krumlov, actually. I can't imagine traveling with that much cash on me. And getting cash in Cesky at ATM/Bankomat is not that easy and the charges are very high from the banks. Also, be careful and review your bill everywhere in this town because there are many people who will overcharge you. It's rampant. Even if you try to speak some Czech, several places are really trying to "game" the tourist. And Christmas isn't even their busy season. Other than the surly bartender/wait person whose name we never knew, the food was decent, though overpriced. The breakfast is included and quite adequate. I travel alot and love the Czech Republic. This hotel was a nice...
Read moreVery Nice Stay..!! Choosing a Hotel, for me was all about Location / View. I reserved 6 months in advance, direct w/ hotel, requesting castle / river view, and got it. And.. Staying more than 1-2 nights most likely helped secure an A-1 view room. Room 201, at river-front, full castle view, corner room, was great. Very Large, Spacious Room, with small sofa, 2 arm chairs, table, and 2 view windows. Entry room with good sized closet, short wood storage bench, and padded bench, for sitting in front of small makeup table... As well as another view window. Very large Bathroom, with corner tub, with shower... No curtain, but we tried to be careful, not to get the floor too wet. Double sink, and private toilet area. Breakfast was very good, offering eggs, 1-2 types, changing daily, along with heated sliced local bacon, and 1-2 types of sausages. 2 different coffee makers, offering selected coffees, including cappuccino. Good selection of breads, rolls, fresh fruit, little cakes or cookie-like local sweets. And More... Over 4 mornings, the 2 lead women working the breakfast were welcoming, and kept all very stocked up till 10 am. Decor in hotel is pleasantly dated, but all was very clean, and comfortable. Lighting was good to adequate. Arriving about 8 on a Saturday night, we soon headed to the downstairs Restaurant. We were promptly hustled out, as I believe we'd entered a private party. Menu Food is served in bar area, but seating was not available. We went elsewhere, so can't speak for...
